190 visa ? live in sponsor state or not.

Recommended Posts

We are in the process of obtaining a 190 PR visa. We really want to go to Perth, as we have family that live there and a fair few friends there that can support us when we first arrive. (We are moving with 2 young children). The thing is our 190 visa is sponsored by NWS & not WA. We know there is no legal requirement to the sponsoring state, its more of a gentleman's agreement. We are a little worried that if we do go to Perth rather than, say Sydney that this will reflect badly on us when it comes to applying for citizenship:mad:.

Does anybody know if this will be the case? Any information would be a great help.

We don't want to be moving from Uk and having to settle the children with school, nursery and friends etc to have to move again 2 years later to be in our preferred area and having to start all over again.

Really don't know what to do :arghh:

You don't know down the track what might eventuate but the states are getting pretty irritated that people are reneging on their agreement. As it stands the would probably be no comeback but the more people abuse the visa provisions - knowing full well that they have no intention of complying with the obligation then the more likely there will be sanctions in the future. Personally I'd be doing the time then if you still want to move you can do it with a clear conscience. You might decide not to move especially if Perth continues to struggle. If you can uproot your kids to the other side of the world you can do it again. I guess the question is, why opt for NSW and lie that you have a commitment to the state if you don't want to go there - wait until WA are sponsoring.
