marie
Hi, Just wondered if anyone had any experience travelling with Quantas and Emirates, It looks like it is 30kg each. If there is only 2 of us can we have 3 big suitcases? or are you only allowed 1 suitcase each? really want to use the full 30kg each
vickyplum
Usually the airline specify the weight per bag - and how many bags are permitted per person. ie, Qantas business class is two bags per per with max weight 32kg per bag. Economy is one bag at 32kg per person. Emirates looks like the same number of bags for each class but 30kg for economy and 40kg for business class. So if you fly with Qantas in economy, your one bag can weight max of 32kg but business class would be two bags @ 32kg each per person.
Pb65
Plus of course if you split the 30 kg into 2 bags the weight of each bag itself eats into that 30 kg plus fact that checkin may not combine passengers allowances even if 2 travelling together so not 3x20=60 for example. Depends on the checkin and airline. To remove any doubts just call the airline as some do some dont but most dont seem to advertise fact other than max weight per case for health and safety reasons for the luggage handlers. LKC
I don't know for Qantas or Emirates specifically, but you might be best off phoning the airline to find out. When we last went to the UK my OH/kids wanted to bring back a load of LEGO, which is bulky but light. We knew we had a 30kg allowance each, but because of the size of the LEGO we couldn't fit it all in the three big/one small suitcases we had brought between the four of us. So, OH phoned Singapore and they said that as long as we didn't exceed the overall weight, we could split it between as many bags as we liked, so we borrowed a suitcase off the in-laws. Obviously you have the extra weight of the suitcases to consider, but for bulky but light items extra suitcases is the way to go. We are flying with Singapore again this holiday, and will be taking five suitcases, one of which will be inside one of the others. We are going walking in Scotland as part of our holiday this time and will buy lots of our waterproof/walking stuff in the UK (it is cheaper) and will want to bring it back with us.
