Hi

Really keen to get UKTV access in Australia, just wondered the best way. I have a playstation with all the UK channels on it, but cant get round the blocker from being in Australia.

Looked at VPN's but most look like scams/unreliable - happy to pay but want great service. Been here two years but struggle to get british motorcycling access in australia and oz tv is ok but not as good as uk dramas/documentaries etc

Any ideas welcome

Thanks in advance

I can recommend unblock-us, costs about $6 or 7 a month depending on exchange rate, and has been fantastic, really reliable. I tried a free one for a while which progressively got worse until it started spamming my laptop with porn pop-ups. Better paying a bit for a good service!

If you use a VPN, it will likely impact on the streaming quality as all traffic has to go through the VPN. You're best using a smartdns service such as getflix. I use getflix to access US Netflix service, UK BBC iplayer, UK Eurosport player etc

I had a look at getflix's website. It explains they change your DNS settings so it appears that you're in the US and I can understand how that enables the US Netflix service to work - but how does that help with BBC iplayer?

I use express VPN $99 US per year. You can choose from several servers in the Uk and loads of other counties too. We tend to download programmes from the I player in the morning to watch at our leisure as our internet speeds are not fantastic in the evening, especially if son is in too!

The BBC have been blocking VPNS recently and some of our connections didn't work so well but they just brought others into play and we now have two or three in the UK and Channel Islands that work fine. With ITV player we have to stream as no option to download but we do OK.

Cerburus is right though we stream via Apple TV and with that and the VPN our wi fi struggles at times!

not tried the other options as happy with this one, our son also uses one of our permitted connections in the UK and when he is on hols to watch US sports.

When you login to getflix, in your account settings, you specify which netflix region you want to access (only have to set in once). For most other services, it just happens automatically, getflix makes it appear as though you're in whichever country you need to be to access that particular service.

Works pretty much flawlessly

As others have mentioned here, using a DNS solution (unblock us, getflix, unotelly etc) will give you access to all the main UK catch up TV services. I use unotelly which supports all the UK services and has worked well for years. I used to view these on my PS3 when I arrived 3 years ago. My Samsung smart tv (Australian 2015) model, was easily converted to a UK smart tv with all the catch up channels.

I wouldn't bother with Now tv the service, however the box is a bargain at about 15 pounds. I would recommend the Amazon fire tv box at 35 pounds, especially as it gives access to netflix, all UK catch up tv and tvplayer for BBC/4/ITV live streams (and Amazon prime).

You may want to browse: http://www.eyeondemand.com it has a lot of info on what is available.

We have an amazone fire box which we currently use to access Netflix and Amazon prime in the kids chill out area we also have a Samsung smart TV purchased this year with access to catch up Tv. I'm I right in thinking that these will be worth bringing over?
