Sofi Louisa Gorsuch
Good Afternoon all! So my fiancé has been offered a job, we are going on a 457 visa and are now in the process of checking the contract before we start actual visa application. Regarding work and possibly study for me- are there restrictions? Am I limited to what work I can do? And how much e.g. full time? If I did want to study part time will I be able to do that on a 457 visa? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! x
bell123321
As a partner of a 457 visa folder there are no working restrictions for the partner. Studying wise I believe you will be treated as an international student in regards to fee's. I am sure someone else will correct me if I am wrong on that one. VERYSTORMY
You can do what ever you want, but, as already mentioned, you will be an international student for purposes of fees and these can be VERY high.
Ken
While in theory there are no working restrictions employers may not be so understanding. If the main 457 visa holder loses their job (and doesn't find another employer to sponsor them) you would have to leave the country. Some employers won't want to invest in someone that could happen to so partners of 457 holders do report difficulties in finding jobs.
wrussell
A fiancé would not as a rule qualify to join ta primary 457 visa applicant. A de facto or married relationship is required.
