pickmeup
Hi all, just wanting to get some advise for my friend. What is the current immigration requirement in Australia for children with disability? My friend is wanting to migrate in Australia and one of her son is deaf. He is 7 years old. What are the chances of them getting approved? My friend's qualification is fine. If it wasn't for son's disability they would have applied straight away. Cheers for your input. Thanks,
Quoll
Your friend should seek advice from an agent who specialises in medical conditions - George Lombard or Peter Bollard are generally mentioned in this regard. It depends on how much he will cost the Australian tax payer for the support that he needs.
Guest
Agree with the above. She needs to consult with a reputable migration agent who specialises in the medical/health aspect. Either of those mentioned above would be a good starting point.
Marisawright
What others have said - it does come down to what the disability will cost the Australian taxpayer. If he's deaf then unless he's going to have a cochlear implant, his ongoing costs won't be high so I'd say they'd have a good chance.
