Hi...does anyone know an estimated/rough cost of a notary. Needed to certify my documents.

I rang around locally listed notaries and cost was extortionate like £150 fir first 10 documents then £50 for each additional 5. I am looking at using a justice of the peace instead.

Are you in Australia or the UK? If Australia, ask at your local library when they have a JP in - they will certify your documents free of charge.

Depends what you need them certifying for.

 

Unless it specifically states a notary, for some assessment bodies it might. A solicitor is usually cheaper, if you do all the copying that will also help keep the cost down.

 

For on line visa applications to immigration a colour scan is acceptable nowadays, no need to certify.

DIBP (and the ACS) will accept certified copies done at the Post Office (yes, here in the UK!).

If they don't... I really don't want them reading this thread and reviewing my 189 grant :wink:

Post Office will do 3 documents for about a tenner.

Yes, it depends whats you need them for. Most immigration stuff can be done by a magistrate/JP, but my husband's professional documents had to be stamped and signed by a notary. Best to make sure before you get someone other than a notary to do them, or you may end up paying twice.
