MattC
Does anyone know if it is possible to keep your Australian mobile number whilst being in the UK-not on a contract, but pay as you go basis. Any suggestions welcomed.
Patphillips47
Yes it is all you need do is create a login and top it up online Just look at which tariff you choose though as it could be costly if you have to top it up every couple of months
Quoll
Yes, I've just organised this. I bought a $20 365 day sim from Vodafone, had my existing number transferred (took only minutes) and then called Vodafone to get international roaming set up. I can receive texts from Australia which is all I really need to be able to do and I can recharge on line. None of the others came close! I've been paying monthly up to now - very cheap rates but it still was over $200 a year which was ridiculous - $20 I can manage!
rammygirl
We had virgin PAYG sims. Kept them up by topping up on line. Good thing was the credit didn't expire so when we came out we just used the accumulated credit. When we settled back in oz they credited all remaining funds towards a monthly contract. So never lost a cent.
Guest
You can but check the small print as it may be if you don't use the number for X amount of time they may cancel it so they can re use the number at a later date. If that is the case every now and again you need to make a call, send a text etc perhaps.
rammygirl
Also check if you can actually use the sim outside Australia. Some PAYG accounts do not have roaming.
vasatore
I have been keeping my pre-paid optus that I bought during my reccie. I even wrote that in my ozzie resume You have to top-up every six months and that's it. As far as I know, unused credit is accumulated, so you don't lose your payments.
