keithredpath
I was told I couldn't apply for an Aged Parent Visa until I was 65. I was also told it could take up to 2 years to process this Visa. Therefore there can be no 65 or 66 year olds who have this Visa. Why not let people apply early and when they attain their 65th birthday let them have their Visas. To maximise the benefit to Australia, surely you should let these people in as soon as possible to take full advantage of their skills before they retire. MaggieMay24
Because it's an Aged parent visa, I doubt DIBP has any expectation that these visa holders would work. Unfortunately it's a reality that it would be very difficult for someone aged 65 to come and find a job. In the current economy, there are a lot of people looking for work. I've never heard of any country allowing people to apply for visas before they meet the criteria. The criteria must be met on the day you lodge your visa application. Quoll
You can apply for a CPV before then so why not do that? Mind you, finding work at that age will be nigh on impossible if that's what you had in mind
