I wonder if anyone could give me any advice on timings and processes? I went through an immigration lawyer to get the current visa but am trying to save a bit of money now! Quinkla Posted December 16, 2015 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Get married at least one month before your PMV expires Get the official marriage certificate - not the one you get at the ceremony, but the one from the records office Get stat decs from at least two people to vouch for the genuineness of your marriage Get evidence to show your shared financial, social and emotional commitment Fill in the form to apply for the 820/801 visa (may be electronic now) Submit Wait wait wait get 820 visa wait wait wait Receive request for more stat decs and more forms Submit Wait wait wait Get 801 permanent resident visa Wait wait wait Apply for citizenship. Except that these days there are more waits between Temp and PR owing to the greater number of temp visas being applied for onshore.
