Be down in Augusta early November for the Act Belong Commit (used to be Anaconda) adventure race. A bunch of us have been doing the race every year, first year we did it was in Dunsborough and We all think it's better in Augusta. Perfect place for it, easy to get between transition areas, great location for everything. Love the ocean paddle and swim, perfect for the run and mountain bike legs, biggest adventure race in the World you know.:cool: Can't be a more spectacular start anywhere, stood on the rock near the lighthouse, helicopter overhead, waiting for the start, get pretty nervous before races though, even after doing it for so many years. We rent a beautiful house very near the main camp site, we can carry the surf skis from the rental to the start line, brilliant spot and very cheap. A few of us stayed back for a few days a couple of years ago and found a nice winery just out of town and went to watch the Melbourne Cup there. It's only a small one and the rest of the people there were all locals, great day out, everyone was really friendly and the wine was good and cheap. Me and a friend carried on drinking in the Augusta pub when we got back then the wives came and picked us up later. We were a bit worse for wear and they got to us just in time. Lovely place Augusta. A lot of people only make it to Margaret River and miss a gem. Best of both worlds with the Blackwood River and the Ocean. Minch23 Posted October 13, 2015 Share Posted October 13, 2015 The adventure race is great, good on you for competing! It's nice when things like that are on, as it brings the town to life. We enjoy living in Augusta, mainly because of the weather (you get used to the wind). The kids absolutely love it, most of the time we usually have the beaches to ourselves.
