BobHartley
Hi guys, I'm 3 months into my 2 year 485 visa and my wife has become pregnant! Does anybody have any advice on what I need to do? Link to relevant medibank insurance page I seem to be covered for "Obstetrics-related services" possibly with a $300 excess, which is ok I suppose. But what about my visa? I'll contact immi in the morning, but what will the status of the baby be? Who do I register the birth with? Any advice much appreciated! Thanks in advance, Bob
lebourvellec
The baby when born will have the same visa status as yourself 485, but once you have passport etc you will need to add them to your visa as a subsequent entrant for them to hold their own 485 visa. I thought babies born in Australia are automatically Australian ?
blossom
I thought babies born in Australia are automatically Australian ? Only if one or both parents are either citizens or permanent visa holders. The 485 is a temporary visa.

Bungo
I thought babies born in Australia are automatically Australian ? Place of birth by itself, rarely determines citizenship. In this case, no definitely not an Australian baby.
