Playghirl
so, after being a permanent teacher for 15 years in The UK and 3 in Sydney. I'm loving the change of pace. How is everyone else finding it?
wolvesaussie
Change of pace to be a casual teacher, or change in pace to teach in Australia?
Playghirl
Change of pace being a casual teacher. Though fair to say both apply.

Sammy1
What are the main differences as a casual teacher? I think the OP may mean a relief teacher. The main difference is that the days of work change from week to week, depending on needs of local schools. A relief teacher may get seven days one week and then nothing the next. The other difference of course is that that there no prep to be done for classes and no work to take home.
Playghirl
Yep, I meant a reliefs teacher.

How is everyone else finding it? Out of interest, how is the pay when doing relief teaching? Might need to start off in the supply pool and work towards a permanent job so would be useful to know. Playghirl
It varies, in private schools I get 440 per day, in some independent and other catholic schools around 370, and I think the DeC is about the same. It depends on years of training and experience.
