LBradley1967
Hi I am in the process of enrolling my daughter onto a specialist program at a wa high school. The school can enrol her remotely leaving an interview until we arrive jan 2016, which is great. They are asking that the child be a competent swimmer ie a level 7 swimming cert . My daughter is a competent confident swimmer with a lot snorkelling experience but she hasn't been through a swimming club here ( in Northern Ireland). I am happy to have her assessed by a swim coach here but I need to know precisely what a level 7 is required to demonstrate. I don't think level 7 here is the Same as Australia and I'm struggling to find specifics on an Australian website. If anybody could point me the right direction that would be appreciated. Or if their kid has done it and know what's required that would be great. The wa school has been very helpful but it is now closed for a two week break and I need to organised on this. Cheers laura
boganbear
took 10 seconds to find this out http://www.lifesavingwa.com.au/swim-and-survive/programs/swim-and-survive/levels/stage-07/ I can't really see why you need to know how to swim to learn the 3 Rs
starlight7
Never heard of a level 7 swimming requirement- must be a WA thing. If she can swim I wouldn't worry at all unless she is training for the Olympics or something!

Que Sera Sera
Just be aware that the swimming skills here in Aus are hugely above the UK. Everyone's kids I know here come and are way behind . They start swimming lessons here before they can sit up. My son who was very good, had to share swimming lessons with 4 year olds here when he was 9, he wasn't impressed
Phoenix16
Sounds like your daughter will be well beyond level 7 so I wouldn't worry! I've been taking my little one swimming from 3 months old in UK and from 2.5 years old here, swimming lessons here are definitely more focused and they generally all follow the Swim and Survive program, my daughters 7 years old now, she passéd level 7 a while ago and is now on a program that focuses on stroke development, I have to say the swimming programs on offer here are fantastic.
