Hi

Does anyone having experience of carrying on working for your Australian employer after moving back to UK?

Visa- we have PR intend to get RRV for 5 years before returning, after that expires would we be able to carry on working or do we need citizenship (not wanting this is linked to getting super back)

Tax implications?

Thanks

PR holders can take their super with them when they leave the country (not sure if they need to transfer it to an equivalent retirement fund or simply take the cash). This came up when an expat returned to the US and our super fund asked her immigration status. Since she'd become a citizen, she had to leave her super here but if she'd been a PR she would have been able to take it with her.

Working in the UK for an Australian employer has no implications on visas.

You do not need to get a RRV on departing oz. You will only need it if you decide to come back to oz after the travel part of your pr visa expires. This is usually 5 years from grant.

So we don't need a visa even if he is paid via their payroll over here?

We want the RRV to give us the ability to return if we don't settle back. Working for his current employer is just something that came up.

You'd better both tell the ATO that, because they don't know..

Who cannot claim a DASP?

  • Australian citizens

  • New Zealand citizens

  • Permanent Australian residents

  • Retirement visa holders

  • Investor retirement visa holders

Very aware of this official stance, but I know as in met in person two people on 175 visas who got their super back, its a grey area when trying to find info but once you are back in UK, with an expired visa, no way to get a RRV and no ties to Oz, you can get it back
