stevio
I have been looking into going into a tafe college and wondering if there was any entry requirements to getting into one, appart from the fees. Are there any spesific dates for college enrollment in Brisbane or are they different between each college? Thanks
connaust
Main entry point is February, and many courses have July 2nd semester entry. For application depends upon course, generally equivalent of year 11, however if you are mature age any work experience or training counts under RPL recognition for prior learning (& experience). I'd suggest having CV outlining work and education background. Are you local, pr or offshore?
stevio
Thanks, i am moving over to Brisbane in October and considering going into a tafe college instead of high school as it will be more suited to me.
connaust
Whatever your residency status, TAFE should be the most attractive option for 16+ yo due to lower fees, and ability to transfer credits direct to university programs. Further, it offers structure, practical learning, small class sizes and time to work part time, which then gives time to decide which career or occupation you can pursue. blossom
I think I had to show them I had a-levels, but that was a few years ago when there was much more competition.
starlight7
Be a bit careful about what course you choose, though, because not all lead to employment opportunities.
pompey43
Any idea of the cost of attending a Tafe College on a 457 visa?
LukeM
If you're not a Permanent Resident you may have to pay "full" fees, same as University. Depends on study area and the level. A Diploma of IT at TAFE can be $10,800 up to $14,900 just as an example. Certificates and random courses would be a lot cheaper.
