I'm starting my application for my 186 visa soon and iv been leaning more towards getting a migration agent on board to help me.

I live and work in Sydney, does anyone know any good migration agents that will be able to help me?

Thanks

Tara

Hi maggie may, thanks for your reply.

I was just wondering how you found the whole process applying for the 186? Fortunately my circumstances are pretty straight forward as iv already been living in Australia on a 461 (New Zealand family sponsor) and have been working for my boss for 3 years now.

Obviously agents can can be expensive and I would much rather not have to use one but given this is for permanent residency I think I may have to. Did you use an agent for yours?

Warm regards

I didn't use an agent, no. But since I work in HR, I've seen the process somewhat for some of our employees where an agent was used so had an idea of what I needed to do. My situation was also as straight-forward as they come - no dependents, no health or criminal issues, transition stream so didn't need a skills assessment or IELTS. That doesn't mean I wasn't nervous that something would go wrong, but it worked out fine.

Hmm I'm thinking more and more that I may well do this myself. I don't need a skills assessment either and have no children or criminal record. My gut feeling is because iv already done everything by the book and I'm fortunate enough to be in the situation I am that I should do this myself and save the cash. My friend just got her citizenship and did the whole temporary-permanent-citizen herself, she said it was a big headache and would never like to have to do it again but nevertheless she did it and came out the other side.

Its just one of those things isn't it. My boss has sponsored someone before but it was years ago and I think things were a tad easier back then. Thank you so much for your responses, it's really helping me.
