Foxtel/sky tv

It is pretty much the same everywhere, but I think there may be small variances between satellite and cable offerings. Also, not every state has the terrestrial channels included in the Foxtel package. Football (soccer) gets shown, but there is no F1 channel (and you got to be prepared to stay up late if you want to see it live).

Not sure if Foxtel differs from state to state.

Fox Sports show all premier league games live and about 3 La Liga games a week

UCL is shared between SBS (free to air) and ESPN

The Championship is on Setanta (was last season anyway)

Bundesliga is on Sentanta

Channel 10 (free to air) broadcasts F1

There is a motorsport channel on Foxtel called Speed

Cant remember where the FA cup is shown however the FA cup final is always on SBS

I have Foxtel, but not Setanta, which is sometimes frustrating, because although I get to see all the EPL games, various cup games are on Setanta, and some are on free-to-air, of course, eg. the last World Cup in Brazil on SBS.

Of course, if I really want to see a game, I can go to a pub with Setanta, although when the time difference are extreme, when it's an 11 hour difference and/or a game that kicks off at 5.15 on a Saturday afternoon in UK, it's not always so pleasant to go out. If I tape a game on Foxtel, I can watch it at my leisure and avoid knowing the score (so long as no mate texts it to me!)

You should look for the sports bars in whichever part of OZ you are going, and depending upon which club you support, there may be specific team supporters in the venues. In Sydney, Spurs fans meet at Triple Aces bar, West Ham Utd and Crystal Palace at Royal Exhibition hotel, and various teams' fans meet at Cheers Bar in George St or the Casino sports bar.

Is foxtel the same service all across OZ? Or do channels differ in different states?

Also do the sports channels show UK football english/scottish league, Uefa Cup and champions League football?

And is there a dedicated formula 1 channel?

F1 isn't on Foxtel, as in a subscription channel. It's on national Free To Air but has adverts..channel names seem to vary between states. I think WA had a problem last season where they weren't getting qualifying televised and fans were not happy?

They use the British commentary. It's pretty crap actually...some of it's on SD channels, sometimes HD. Last season we watched Qualifying on one channel....we sat there the next night watching some dumb film and the race was on a different channel. Pretty shoddy setup sometimes for free channels and who's got the rights for what....check your state.
