Guest The Pom Queen
I think as long as they have been treated its fine, hopefully someone can confirm this for us
Guest Guest 47403
PQ is right as long as they have been treated you'll be OK we had some shippers out to do quotes a few weeks back and they will point out what you can and can't take, customs won't fumigate any items you can't take they will dispose of them then charge you for there time. Wicker is no go I'm afraid.

nic1171
I think stuff manufactured in UK is fine, I brought chest if drawers but I know wicker is a nono. As for stuff bought from around world I would be cautious unless you have paperwork saying it's treated. It might be possible to get it treated in UK? gabbycat
We brought wooden bed, wooden chest of drawers, wooden corner cabinet - all ok as they were varnished/ painted. We were advised by the removal company not to bring wooden animals from Africa and seagrass and wicker baskets so we didn't. We had some animal doorstoppers and we weren't sure what was used to weight them down so we emailed the manufacturer who advised what they describe them to Aus customs as. Ahh we have couple of those doorstops, what do we describe them as? My African wooden items are varnished, I gave one to my mum a huge monkey as it looked like it was raw wood in parts so haven't risked it. We are packing all wooden bits in same box so customs have easy access. We have a huge wicker cheat from ikea should we leave this behind? Inside of our bedside drawers are not varnished but are from warren Evans so I'm assuming as they are reputable company and not cheap they will be ok?? nikkiwd
I am just about to start packing and I am wondering the same thing as I have some wooden carved ornaments from different places. A couple look like they have been varnished but a couple don't so I was going to varnish them myself, do you think this would be ok? Also I am surprised by the above list, surely everything on there can't be prohibited! I was going to bring the kids trike and scooters (obviously cleaned properly first) and also some small kitchen appliances which are quite new. And whats with the pianos and violins, I don't have any but imagine those that do are quite partial to them!
Kezzles
That list is just what you need to declare as customs may want to inspect!
