mpatel1972
Hi, How does this visa work? I've read details on the immi website and am confused. Do I need to find a job\employer first and then apply for 457 visa? If not is there a place where I can find a list of employers who are looking to sponsor people? I just registered at immiaccount but doesn't tell me much. Regards Mitesh
fensaddler
You'll need the job first - and bear in mind that not every job will qualify for a 457 visa. There are limits by occupation and income, for example. Your prospective employer will then work with you (probably through a migration agent) to secure the visa. How you go about finding a job will depend on which industry you are in - some companies and sectors will actively recruit, in others there are specialist recruitment agencies that will recruit overseas. In some sectors you may well be on your own in finding something. Also worth understanding what the 457 visa is there for - it is set up to allow companies a route to bring in skilled workers in occupations where there is a skill shortage amongst the Australian workforce. If you are not amongst those occupations, 457 isn't for you.
MaggieMay24
In addition to what fensaddler has said, the employer also needs to be an approved sponsor and to submit a successful nomination to DIBP in order to hire you.

Regards Mitesh Well it depends what you do, but generally companies will avoid sponsorship and therefore I doubt you will find a list of companies looking to sponsor. You probably need to do this the hard way, trawl the Internet looking for jobs and hope you find someone that will consider sponsoring and is able to do so. mpatel1972
Thanks everyone. I didn't think it was going to be easy. I'll just have to go through the 190 route.
