At the moment we live in perth and have a pool with our house, since we use it almost every day in summer we had intended on getting a pool when we move to brisbane. Now im wondering as its not quite as hot over there do you think you really need a pool there? I know when it gets below 30 here we dont use ours as much! obviously not having a pool will give us lots more options in finding a home too... but will we miss it?! decisions, decisions!!!:huh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Brissy is a lot more humid than Perth and feels a lot more uncomfortable even though the temperature is lower. I think you would be able to use a pool in Bris a lot more of the year than one in Perth, an un-heated one anyway. Personally never had one and I wouldn't want one less than 25m. We live very near the beach and some great leisure centres with 50m pools. So if we wnat a swim we make use of those. If you just use it for a cooling dip and laying around sipping martinis then I would definitely get one. If I didn't live near the coast, up in the hills say, I would have one for sure. Guest Posted February 3, 2014 Share Posted February 3, 2014 I would have thought it would be more useful in Brisbane than Perth year round due to the hotter weather. Saying that, when I had a shared pool at a unit I never used it that much so definitely not worth the running costs to me as I prefer the beach or a public pool as I find most house pools too small to be of much use. nic1171 Posted February 3, 2014 Share Posted February 3, 2014 My son goes in every day, 2-3 times daily when off school, I often sit and dip my feet, only been here since Sept so not sure over winter but I know my friends who don't have one are always wanting to come to mine! Guest Posted February 3, 2014 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Just a little note. While Brisbane is more likely than Perth to get humid in summer, crazy humidity isn't actually that common. When the temperatures are high here it is usually cloudless and little water in the air therefore not humid. The worst days tend to be the cooler overcast days with a lot of rain in the air. This summer has hardly been humid at all, and the humidity is likely to be at its worst at night time. During the day (this summer) I doubt you could notice much difference the majority of the time between the two due to the dry weather. It's not exactly like a Darwin or Singapore over here. jamesnparry Posted February 3, 2014 Share Posted February 3, 2014 we're in sunshine coast, and our first rental did not have a pool, we have a pool, and although the winter months the pool is cold, - ie around 20 degrees, you will find from nov to march your kids will be in it...and nothing better than to come home on a summer day, and just jump in the pool...don't forget people come round, bbq's socialising, it is well worth it.....and the money u save not driving to the beach/the hassle of going here and there, and the enjoyment your kids and friends have, - to be honest can't see not having any property without a pool...............................it is worth it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sprug Posted February 5, 2014 Share Posted February 5, 2014 Yep if you have a pool and love it then I would definitely try and get one over here in Brissie. We ummed and r'd about putting one in when we recently relocated to moggill, brisbane and built our own house. We are so glad we did now.
