Arriving Brisbane 29th April HELP!!

Finally, we have flights booked and our date set. We arrive in Brisbane 29th April. Now the fun starts, container, somewhere to live, somewhere to work etc. Hubby is an electrician, and went over some time ago for exams, and holds his A license. Where do we start? We have two sons, one 19 and one 13, so we need a nice area with work potential, and a good school. Any ideas anyone??

Sharron.

First off work out what your bringing and what your not ,then get 2 or 3 shipping companys out to quote you. (make sure you play them off against each other on price).

Second book some arrival accommodation for your first few weeks ,you can look on sites like Stayz or Take a break or you can go for a holiday let or Caravan and Cabin Park such as Brisbane Holiday Village.

Once here ,if you still havent got jobs get out there and sell yourself, at least already having his Licence will put him a step ahead.

God luck with everything, Brisbane is fab but heh im biased, lol

If you can give some idea on which area of Brisbane, north, south, east, west or even some suburbs, then you might get some good feedback on those area's and schools.

You could also check out the sister site 'life in queensland' for some more local opinions, but it is not a heavily used forum as yet.

Good luck

Have a look at http://www.whereis.com you can put in Brisbane as a basic starting point press find, up comes a map. then you can press directions and start keying in different suburbs, and by entering a different suburn like Corinda it will give you route in Kms and Directions. You can ask it for schools in any suburb, or shopping centers, doctors all sorts of things, so once you have a job and know where you will be living you can work out distance to different suburbs. http://www.realestate.com.au will give you houses to buy and rent. Love western suburbs, older area lots of trees and QLD style houses but this may not be what you are looking for and it can be a bit expencive over there. As others have said work out a list of possible suburbs that are of interest then come back and ask people what they are like.
