Proof of functional English for partner (subclass 190)

Hi Guys,

 

I am applying for subclass 190 and i am the primary applicant. My wife (partner) will be included in the application also. Now i am reading the Proof of functional English on the IMMI website and they mentioned "an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing)". It's for my wife and i've been told by some that you need each band 4.5 for my partner and on the other side there are some that tell me you only need the average band of 4.5 and it's all good.

 

Now which one is the correct one that IMMI will accept for my spouce? All band of 4.5 for each band or just the average 4.5 will do? If you have been in this situation, please share with us. Thanks.

On IMMI website it says:

 

an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing),

this means the overall score only as they didn't write "on each of the four components" as they do for the main applicant.

on Acacia website, they also explained the functional English as follows:

Scoring at least 4.5 averaged over the four components of the IELTS test within the 12 months before application, or during processing;

Unless it has changed in the last 12 months, I thought it was just the primary applicant that has to sit the IELTS.

It was so when I did my visa application, only I sat the exam.

My partner and daughter just tagged on...

Unless you are using your partners skills to bump up your points?

General Skilled Migration:

For applicants who have turned 18 at the time of application and who are assessed as not having functional English, the second instalment is $4885. For any other applicant, the second installment is nil.http://www.immi.gov.au/fees-charges/_pdf/visa-pricing-table.pdf

 

You can prove functional English by IELTS score 4.5 or if ur first language is English and have a current passport from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland

 

So any applicant (dependent) who is over 18 and didn't provide evidence of functional English , will have to pay the second installment
