  1. Hi there, I did see your reply to the thread, got an email update... We used plastic boxes just because we thought they would hold out longer, we had A few on arrival that had broken lids, but that was not due to the boxes being week. We had initially put heavier boxes at the bottom, but when the crate arrived, before it was even open we asked chappy if customs had been in it, due to having no paper work attached to it from customs he said they had not been in it, and it will be as we packed it in the UK.. Here's the point I'm trying to make, the photo we took of our crate as we finished packing it in Cornwall, was different to when we opened it up here in Adelaide, re packed different too, hence the heavy boxes now on top and breaking the lids. Of course seven seas denied emptying the crate and re packing it, so that really annoyed me. There was a customs charge, but we new about that at the start, our inventory was so thorough, the didn't check out stuff.. All in all, apart from the long shipping time as well, I would use them again. A very professional door to door service.. Paul..
  2. I have been in Adelaide 2 weeks now, started work last week after only one week here, and have had 4 other job offers too.. Not sure about plumbing jobs, I'm a metal fabricator/ sheet metal worker
  3. Hi, I am a metal fabricator by trade, position I just got was senior sheet metal worker.. Makes me feel old with the senior bit..
  4. Hi all.. We landed in Adelaide last Saturday, finally after 2 and half years of visa applications, and trying to sell the house.. All done and we made it.. Landed Saturday morning at 6am, friend picked us up at the airport then took us back into his house where we are staying temp, showered had a cup of tea, as you do.. No time to waste, so went out to look at a car I had my eye on from the UK. By early afternoon I had bought it, 2004 Renault Clio 1.4, 155k kms on the clock, full Renault dealer service history up to date.. All this for $3999.. Bargain. Monday came so thought now I need to job hunt, so went out early cold calling to hand out my résumé. Tuesday started the same, but must have impressed someone because they wanted me back the next day for interview... By Thursday I had a job offer in place, so promptly accepted it.... Start next Tuesday after the bank holiday Monday.. Now just need to find a rental..

Hi all We are due to fly out to oz in a few days... We have an allowance of 30kg each, but does anyone know If the allowance can be split into more cases? I.e there are 3 of us traveling, but would like to take 4 cases but still not exceed the 30kg for each passenger.. To much stuff to fit in 3 cases..
  7. Quote " Two days in and we had applied for our TFN’s," What is the TFN bit please? I am coming to Adelaide "one way" next week.. (Yay) and wonder if I need that too..
  8. Yeh joined that site too, but seem to get quicker responses on this site.. Not sure on area yet, depends where I can get a job, don't want too long a commute..
  9. We decided to use the plastic boxes because we can re-use them at our new house.. There are some big 64L ones at the back, i'm sure they will be great fun filled with water for my 2 year old daughter to sit in on a hot day... When are you off to Adelaide? we fly out next Thursday..
  10. Hi mike. We fly out next Thursday from London, land Saturday in Adelaide.. Did our validation trip in November due to deadlines on that, purely because the house sale was not complete we had to come back to UK.. One way now though..
  11. Alsorts from welding processes, health and safety, maths, types of sheet metal development, I.e radial line, triangulation etc. Although at the start of the interview the questions were more heavy fabrication, like repairs to a ships hull, I told him I was more sheet metal work and he changed his questions accordingly..
  12. Hi, it is a small cube, 2 square Metres. Good value really, considering at the back is my tool box weighing in at 45 Kg. For just that alone I was getting prices of around £250. The weight limit in the cube is 1500Kg, that is 1.5 tonnes in real money..I think that's the limit for all cubes, regardless of size..
  13. Hi all Jumping in here too. I have a visa 190, Metal fabricator 322311. Although I am more of a tig welder sheet metal worker by trade..But after looking through my trade certificates etc, he felt metal fabricator suited me more. I did an online skype for my skills assesment with the TRA, no practical tests at all. Wondering why you guys did the practical test?
  14. Well, Today our move cube turned up, I don't know why but I thought it was going to be so much hastle! Infact it couldn't have been any easier, albeit we did a dummy pack in the lounge with a masking tape floor plan. We had all of our paper work pre-filled ready, and we were loaded in around half an hour, very military precision.. Chappy that dropped it of stayed out of the way in his van, to let us get on with it.. I must say also he was a very nice, polite chap too. So, so far so good, a big thumbs up to seven seas. My only gripe, is that it is a relitively new thing, the move cube, so on the website it was saying £495, but when we spoke to them, they said it would be £150 more because we live out of the way! Cornwall..
  15. Ah, snifter to the rescue again.. I have asked the same on PIA too, but I imagine more people look at this site. Initially we are staying with friends in Northgate, until I find work, can't look for rentals until I have secured a job, wouldn't want to commute too far for work It is crazy here in Cornwall at the moment, crazy weather, and crazy busy packing. Our booked small movecube comes next Wednesday, then we fly out the following Thursday, landing on the Saturday, which is two weeks away... Sorry, gone off topic a bit..
  16. Hi all We are coming out to Adelaide towards the end of Jan, one way.... Can anyone recommend a second hand car sales lot? Must be honest car sales, but relatively cheap, road worthy cars. You here so many dodgy car sales stories, and to be honest, I can't be dealing with the Del boy type bull s**t from these guys..
  17. Thanks snifter, I will look through it in the morning.
  18. One child, two and a half years old
  19. Nice one.. Thanks for your help...
  20. we have friends picking us up. I am searching web now for one, so maybe if I ask them nicely they will but it for us, then we will pay them when we get there. I am looking on BIG W, do you know were else would sell them? In SA?
  21. That will be a pain in the rear end... We land in 3 weeks, so wondering how we get one so we can leave the airport! Unless they sell them at the airport, which I doubt..
  22. Hi. Are UK child car seats permitted for use in Oz? Even if they have UK approved CE, United Nations ECE Regulation R44.03 or later standard (R44.04). markings? Thank
  23. Maybe before you spend any money with an agent, you should try and pass your IELTS. That is if you need to. It's not a walk in the park to pass..
