Stockportgirl
Anyone want to catch up, looking to meet new friends in the Redlands Area, it would be nice to catch up for a chat and coffee and a bonus if our families could get together now and again, it's hard being away from family in the Uk but I am sure friends would make that easier, we have been in Brisbane for 8 yrs and have friends around but not that same network we had in the uk, where we could meet friends at the pub, go out for meals, catch up as a family, just to do this again would be great, we are a pretty normal family, me 40 hubby 38 and kids 14 and 12, anyone happy to meet just let me know

We are 40 ( just) and 42 and no actual children but do have a white hairy baby otherwise known as a dog. Does that count as family? We can't do tomorrow as we are looking after our grandson, but maybe we could arrange for another weekend. What does your hubby do for a living? I see from your profile that your a teacher. My husband, Graham, is a facilities manager but comes from a trade background. I'm a hairdresser, working in Stones Corner at the moment. Where do you guys originally come from in the UK?? We are from Yorkshire
kipHarris
Hello Jo we come next door to Yorkshire; North East (Redcar) Lived out here 7 years and built our home here in Ormiston. Love it! We have been married 18 years and I've just given up teaching a couple of months ago for a simpler life. I do a couple of hours as a private tutor working from home and I still have that burning passion to make a difference to children though my background is in life coaching and helping children develop self esteem. Working just a couple of hours enables us to enjoy lots of time together. We both have a motorbike which we enjoy weekly and recently purchased a caravan for monthly ventures! Dave is 43 in October and works a walk from home. He is an electrician and loves a game of golf and chess. I prefer coffee, playing board games and being amongst positive people. As Dave works shifts, we have loads of time to have fun and are not restricted to weekends. Suggest a couple of dates that you and your hubby can make it and let's see if we can get together for a natter! All folk from Yorkshire are genuine, friendly and very loyal so we look forward to hearing from you' kind regards Kip

Gbye grey sky
I stumbled across this thread so thought I would introduce ourselves. I am 53, wife is 51 and we have a 10 year old daughter. Looking to get our daughter in Ormiston College next year once she has finished year 6 at her current school. We are over for a recce in the area for 12 days from 10 August and have rented a house in Cleveland. This may be a bit cheeky but it would be great to meet someone who has settled in the area to really get the lowdown. Our daughter is a bit anxious about moving and making new friends but we are not worried because she makes friends easily wherever she goes so we are keen to make sure she sees what the area has to offer. PM me if you prefer.

Aww just found this post, can't believe we missed the curry night - we love the Birkdale curry too and have been there a few times (and the chippy next door!) If you arrange another, keep us in mind!! Only been here two years (we live in Redland Bay) but wanting to make new friends. Also have a furry friend if anyone wants to meet up for dog walks. Wellypoint
I'll be there in 4 weeks and have 2 furry friends (one is a bit of a pain in the bum, think she has small dog syndrome) but would be happy to meet for walkies. I'll be in Wellington point.
kipHarris
Sounds great! My small white dog I believe to have severe Special Needs as she is ultra anxious, clingy and if I dare say; totally not with it (LOL) There are some lovely dog walking parks so once you arrive in Wello Point in a months time, let me know and we can walk the dogs together? I live next door to you in a spot called Ormiston which is literally a couple of minutes in the car. You will love Wello Point, especially the King Island beach with the dogs (tide pending) Warm regards Kip
