cskiff
We have an opportunity to move to Sydney with my husbands job. He will be working in the CBD. We are looking for a family friendly suburb within 1 a hour commute. We have 3 children 12,9,&7. Can anyone recommend a good suburb which isn't too expensive. Also does anyone know what age children move to high school?
Quoll
Hmm, what visa will you be going on? Reason being that if you go in a 457 (temp) then you are going to be up for $4.5kx3 for school fees (need to factor in). HS kids are turning 12 before 31 July in the year they start yr7

We are waiting to hear whether the position will be in Australia or the USA.
Rupert
There are hundreds of suburbs around Sydney and I daresay majority of them will have families living there and could be described as "family friendly". Do you have a rough idea od budget, e.g. is it going to be nearer $500 per week or $1000 per week?
RJFleming
Hi, interesting one. As Rupert above said there are a number of different suburbs and more importantly a great diversity within those suburbs. Depending on the mode of transport you may even consider looking outside of Sydney itself and more towards the fringes...... Whilst the budget is important, you also need to consider what it is that you would be looking for from a move into Sydney, and what you want from an accomodation perspective? rmconley
We have a lovely fully-furnished 3 bedroom home in Kellyville, about a 1 hour bus commute to the CBD. We are asking $600/week, but it is available only from 13 April until 5 October as we are going on a long holiday. We have 2 lovely Siamese cats that will become your "temporary pets" while you are here. Any questions, PM us. We live in a nice "upper middle class" suburb and there are great schools here. Children move into high school at about 11-12 years old. High school starts from grade 7. Hope to hear from you.
