Tax File Number

Hey all, anyone out there know whether there is any possibility of applying for Tax file number prior to arriving. I know with Permanent Residency you can apply online once you are in Australia. We arrive in a weeks time and i start work the following week so i was hoping for some way of getting it sorted quicker.

Unfortunately not, you have to do it once you arrive, but if you are paid monthly you should receive it before payday.

Thanks for the reply, I just wanted to double check. We actually getting paid every 2 weeks but i can last a month anyway. So excited about getting paid every two weeks for a change!!!!!

My OH get´s paid every two weeks and he got his tax file number before his first pay arrived.

I applied for one ... even though I haven´t started work yet, and it arrived in the post very quickly, and I say very quickly, with emphasis :wink:

When u apply some offices well give an interim number while your card is processed, so you could ask for this when u apply.it takes 2 Weeks tips for a tax file card to come through by post.

Applied online when in Oz and got a DIAC ref number and a ''expect 28 day delivery' notice. I telephoned them after 10 days and was given my TFN over the phone. Written confirmation is to be sent out too, which has yet to be received.
