garyjames Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hi, I just want to know if any teachers have had any experience, or knows of anyone who has, of getting a Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175) under the following circumstances: 33 years old: 25 points IELTS score above 7.0 in all 4 areas: 25 points Skills Assessment Certificate from Teaching Australia: 60 points Work experience: Worked as a supply teacher for an average of 3 days per week for 3 of the last 4 years, including working as a tutor for an average for 4 hours per week for 3 of the last 4 years. I am getting conflicting information from two employees at the Australian High Commission in London; namely, regarding whether I can be eligible for 10 points for my work experience. Kind Regards, Gary J Email: gary_leech2004@hotmail.com
The Broughtons Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I would seek some professional advice on this one from a registered migration agent if I were you. I came over on a 136 skilled independent as a teacher but can't offer any advice on your situation. I would however check out Teach Australia - they are the assessment body for teachers. This will give you more idea as to whether your teaching experience would pass the skills assessment. Felicity:wub:
Life on easy street Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 This is one of those close run situations were you need advice from a Registered migrant agent. I am a different profession Electronics Technician I got caught out by being out of trade for more than six months. Just before I applied to emigrate. Even though I had 23 years continuos experience in my trade.
