BearRules
Exciting times ahead! You couldn't have chosen a nicer place to move to. Tassie is simply beautiful. We spent a weekend at Bicheno on the East coast a few weeks back, absolutely loved it and will definitely be going again. Honeymoon Bay is possibly the most tranquil place I've ever seen. But then, I haven't been to so many places around Tassie yet so I'll keep searching for a better spot! We've been living in Rosetta on the North side of Hobart. We're currently in the process of buying a house and have settled for one in Howrah. If you like the idea of Howrah, be sure to search Tranmere as well. Some streets are divided such that part is in Howrah and the rest in Tranmere! You can get some breathtaking sea, city and mountain views from that area, hence why we've chosen to settle there. When you first arrive, be prepared to be overwhelmed by emotions and doubts. Then get a really good nights sleep and see how much better you feel! Take a bit of time to explore your new world. Salamanca market is only on Saturday mornings, so head there when you can. Wait till you get a nice clear day before your first trip up Mount Wellington and wrap up warm ... its very cold and extremely windy up there! Visit Bonorong wildlife park if you want to get up close with the natives, and when you get time spend a day or two at Port Arthur. Ooh and visit Russell Falls too ... this must-do list keeps growing! As always, feel free to ask for info. Best of luck with the journey, enjoy every moment! C. Guest canadiantooz
We would be flying on May 30 from Canada. We are planning to stay in short term accomodation for 4 weeks or so to have a look at neighbourhoods around Hobart before renting permanently. Cass: If possible, could you pls share the holiday rental you have booked. You can PM me if you would like. Hope to see you and Stacy in Tassie. Good luck with the move. Cheers,

JoReardon
Best of luck for the flight!! It is always something to be endured and especially with kids I imagine. Hobart has just turned rather chilly at the moment after a very mild autumn - in fact the equal warmest April on record. Arriving in June will be cold, but I am sure you will be prepared. runslikeafish
Good luck all with your moves. Exciting times for sure. Some very good advice earlier in the thread; see how different you feel after a good night's sleep when you arrive It's awesome here - as you're about to discover!
