Hello, I am hoping that someone here may be able to help or offer some insight. I am currently in the starting process of looking to move overseas, so naturally I’m trying to find details about the career I have over in Australia. It’s quite a niche role which makes thing difficult. I work for a natural gas distribution network. I maintain, repair and commission assets relating to this, from low pressure (75mbar) to high pressure (80bar). Equipment such as: gas pressure regulators, slam shut valves, actuated/ball/plug/gate valves, relief valves, pigging operations, natural gas bath heaters, corrosion inspection and reporting, pneumatic testing, cutting, threading and shaping small bore pipe work, etc… Trained in working at heights, confined spaces, hazardous zones, gas detection, asbestos awareness and handling, SCO, road signing, lighting and guarding, etc… I cannot for the life of me find this role in Australia, but I am sure it exists as it is essential to gas supply in all countries. This is making it difficult to find the particular category this job would fall under for a residency visa. One usual term is Gasfitter, but due to the nature of my job we do not have gas safe licensing as there is no need on such large, private sites. I have also looked at Plant Operator, but this doesn’t quite fit the mark. The link below provides further clarification and my role specifically is under the Pressure Management band.
