  1. Just had our certificate if import come in, agent has requested a spot in quarantine and hopeful that we'll get a date soon. Can anyone recommend an agency that could collect from the quarantine centre outside Melbourne and drop off in Adelaide?
  2. Had expected that would be the case, thanks again for the information, it's much appreciated.
  3. Thanks both, appreciate the advice. Sounds like it's a done deal. Even if he did just apply for the electronic visitor visa I'm guessing it would flag up on the system anyway now.
  4. Hi, Hoping someone might be able to give me a steer on something. My father in law was wanting to visit us here in SA. He applied for a 600 visa as he had been arrested and charged several years ago. He had an argument with his wife and she phoned the police, he was admonished by the court but didn't receive a fine or any other kind of sentence. It showed up on his police certificate as "admonished:domestic abuse agregator". He's since been told that his visa application has been referred to VACCU to make sure he meets the character requirements. Apparently, this can take up to a year with no guarantee if success. He's 73 with terminal cancer (health checks were okay for tourist visa) is there any way to speed this up and ask them to take into account his health/age? Someone at work said to tell him to withdraw his application and just apply for an electronic tourist visa but I'm pretty sure this would flag up and just get him banned from entering. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated
  5. We're flying into Adelaide on the 12th of January and had been planning on renting a car for a few weeks. The usual big names are coming in with some pretty eye watering prices, can anyone recommend somewhere for a family sized rental that won't cost an arm and a leg?
  6. Singapore do it but you have to request it at time of booking I think.
  7. Thanks, was thinking I was going senile for a bit there and imagining things!
  8. Hi all, We've got our flights booked for the move in January. Had intended to open an account with ANZ this week in preparation. I can't seem to find anything online about opening an account before you arrive now, with ANZ or any other bank. Had something changed and these accounts aren't available anymore?
  9. Golden email today! Visa application 01/06/22 Medicals 04/06/22 186 PR granted 15/09/22 PMSOL accredited sponsor
  10. Anyone know what the current wait time is between medical clearance and visa decision for a 186 PMSOL? Had our medicals a fortnight ago.
  11. The AIMS assessment is absurd, especially seeing as the IBMS give equivalence to Australian degrees! We decided to just go with my wife as the main applicant, she's a vet and all they wanted was her degree and employment history.
  12. No worries. Might be worth dropping the IBMS an email just to check what the requirements are for fellowship as it shouldn't be linked to your pay band, would follow that up with one to AIMS. It might well end up being an easier route than going down the AIMS exam route. Best of luck!
  13. Fellow BMS here. I don't think there is any way to avoid the AIMS test unfortunately, you meet the criteria for the English language component though as it's 7.0 they require. I had heard rumours that they accept fellowship of the IBMS instead of the exam but not seen any evidence of that, you could try contacting AIMS directly. You'll need to complete the skills assessment component to progress your visa application. Regarding employment, I've been in contact with a few labs (SA), was pretty much told they wouldn't consider me for employment until I'm in country or have a definite arrival date. If you're the main visa applicant you won't be able to move to or work in Australia until you have the visa which is dependant on getting through the AIMS part. The one ray of sunshine there is that they have added biomedical scientists/medical laboratory scientists to the PMSOL. Sorry, I know that wasn't great news, the AIMS exam is a pig if you've been specialised in a specific discipline then need to learn micro, path etc. all over again.
  14. Thanks very much, that's put me at ease a bit! We're not too fussed where we end up with the rental. Plan is to rent for a year to find out where we want to buy.
  15. How bad is the rental crisis at the moment? I'm hearing absolute horror stories about lots of families being homeless and it taking months to find accommodation. We're hoping to be over in Adelaide around September and now I'm getting worried we won't find anywhere to live.
  16. Had tried sending a few emails and was robustly ignored. Will give Linkedin a go. Usually feel a bit awkward sending people an invite there out the blue.
  17. I'm a biomedical scientist (medical laboratory scientist) by trade. Have been managing medical diagnostic labs for the last 6 years or so.
  18. Can anyone recommend a good recruitment agency to lodge my CV with? I work in the healthcare/science field.
  19. We've started having that discussion. It depends how much my wife's future employer is willing to cover, they said they would cover all costs associated with the move but we don't want to be seen to be taking the mick.
  20. Just had a quote for a door to door 20 foot ISO container...... £7,800.......
  21. Hi, Can anyone recommend any good nurseries around the Trinity Gardens, Eastern suburbs area?
  22. Turns out I was mistaken on the visa subclass. My wife would be getting an employer sponsored 186 visa with PR.
