Hi All Has anyone had anything similar: I have three years work experience outside of Australia but the dates add up to be just ten days short of three years ... 3/10/14-23/9/17. I technically was on unpaid leave for another week or two after and have payslips for this but I wasn’t working and flew to Australia on the 28/9/17. Do I have to claim for under 3 years experience or is there any way of claiming 3 years plus experience bracket so that I can get the extra five points?

1. I'm a social worker in NSW from Ireland- I think with most child protection roles and government jobs they will look for the AASW. It took nearly 8 months to get mine from when I submitted everything and my friend form the UK is still waiting on hers. My friend from the UK found work in NSW with a not for profit as a mental health social worker and as stated her AASW hasn't come through yet so it could be similar in Perth. 2. Not sure what your referring to regarding the 65 points for the AASW assessment? If you are talking about for permanent residency you need a minimum 65 points to apply but if you look at all the subs on this topic you will see nobody has been given PR (189 visa) with 65 points, it has become really competitive and for the 189 visa the minimum points you need realistically now are 75 with most people who are invited having 80 plus points. If she is a social worker though her occupation is on most of the state sponsored visa 190 lists (another visa for permanent residency) and she can apply that route and include you (This is what I am doing). You can apply for PR on a WHV in Australia but if you go the 190 route there are certain criteria each state has that you need to meet including the minimum points requirement. For example in NSW you have to be living there already in order to apply for state sponsored PR there and in VIC you have to have at least 2 years social work experience.

Ok thanks just a shame because we actually lived in Melbourne for 18 months and it would be our preference long term to go back there . I already transferred to NSW with my job so I’d have to find a new job if going back which wouldn’t be a problem but nowhere will keep an offer open until your PR comes through given it can take months.. guess I’ll just have to stick with NSW

Hi, I recently completed an EOI for VIC 190-I live in NSW and just realised that the criteria states you have to have an offer of employment in VIC when applying for 190 there. Is this the case? Obviously I won't be applying for a job there until I know we have been invited to apply for PR.

Yes including state points but the higher the points you have the better as they will always choose the person with high points first and at the moment 70 points is even considered low. I applied in August with 70 points for a non pro rata and have not got an invite yet. I think its really competitive at the moment so 70 probably still isn't sufficient, I'm trying to increase mine to 80.

Hi, Everything I have read recently indicates that you will not get an invite with 65 points or if you do you will be extremely lucky. For the 190 I think you are looking at needing a minimum of 70 points. I recently saw a list of non pro rata invites that were given for the NSW 190 in 2019 and I think the lowest points score was 70.

Hi I submitted an EOI on 12/08/19 for a 190 visa. Occupation -Social Worker. . 70 points. Victoria. I have not got an invite yet. Can anyone help-I want to submit an EOI for VIC and NSW. I originally selected NSW but could not figure out how to do a second EOI for VIC so I changed my original EOI to VIC. Q1-Is my only option to select all states if I want to be open to NSW and VIC? Or can I leave my EOI for VIC and do a new one for NSW? I can't see anhy options for this? Q1-Because I edited my EOI will this impact on my place in the queue? For example if I go back in now and change my EOI to All States will this affect my EOI submission date? It still says the 12/08/19 on my EOI. Thank you :)

I’m from Ireland and did the AASW assessment before I came here (2017). At that time it took about 7 months for them to complete ! I think it still takes as long and I had everything ready to go!

Thanks for the response . I’ll be handing in my notice of resignation this week so can I go ahead and start the application to go de facto ? I have the letter of confirmation from my partners employer ready to go. My second question is am I the primary or secondary applicant when completing the application on my partners IMMI account ?

Hey Everyone! I am currently on a 457 Visa, but my partner is being relocated to Sydney with his work (also on a 457). Long story short - I am using this as an opportunity to change the field my career is in, and as such I want to go de facto on his visa. My question is this: how do we even start the process? I am finding the IMMI and VEVO websites very difficult to navigate with no clear information for beginning this process. If I lodge an application to go defect, does that mean I am on a bridging visa with no work rights until the defacto goes through? Thanks in advance everyone!
