  1. Hey guys, my wife and I (with 2 children) submitted our citizenship application(s) a little over 9 months ago (for Sydney city) and have still not heard anything back.

Following this forum, I've noticed most people typically get an invite / message by this time. Is anyone else (in the same application region) in the same situation or am I just being impatient?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hey guys

Does anyone here (who's going through Sydney council) have any updated timelines / stories of ceremonies etc.

I'm not complaining, just curious as we (family of 4) applied in November and have still not heard anything.

    - I understand these things take a long time, was just wondering if it's just me. I'm sure the COVID situation has messed around with tons of timelines.

    Regards

Tanks @Hex for your feedback, I though the same.just want to ask you did they ask you to fill form 80 as well?

becuase in my case, what I wrote that all her time (since born - untill left the country) on one address only. where it should be two address one before we got married and the other one after the marriage. do you think this is the same scenario? I wasn't trying to hide anything, I completly forgot to mention that address.

    thanks again

@Mon0309 Yeah, I had to complete a form 80 and update the addresses for the complete 10 years.

There's no harm in doing so, really the more information you provide the better, and less chance of them coming back (asking for more) there is.

    Hi Guys

I am new here and would like your opinion, please

I had applied for visa 186 DE on 29/04/2020, and yesterday I got the nomination approved, and asked for extra information for the visa application.

the issue I am having is that when I lodged the visa I forgot  to mention one residency location of my partner (wife), it was in the same country but she moved from one address to another when we got married and i didn't include that address on the apllication (only indicated the last address).

now the department is asking for calrifciation on her residential addresses and asked me to fill form 80. In the form I will correct the address and will add the missing address.

my MA is thinking this can cause an issue with the department - The fact that your partner has not indicated her address properly in the application- . so I would like to have your opinion guys if any one has similar issue or can this be a big problem? thank in advance

    Hi @Mon0309

I'm not sure why your MA would say that. I had a similar issue with mine, where we forgot to add the complete lit of my wife's addresses (left 1 year off).

They requested the additional / missing info, which we supplied and they accepted. Had the visa a few months later.

As long as you're not hiding anything and it all makes sense then there's no reason for them to have an issue with this area of the application.

Some of my documents are going to expire . Renewing them will definitely cost me alot .

@pr where are you ... Unfortunately, lots of us go through this. I'm afraid there's nothing we can do but sit and wait it out.

    - There was once a rule whereby the dept would only help you once your waiting period was 2x that of the longest expected wait (10%). Meaning, some people would have to wait 24+months to get assistance.

It's bad but we are at there mercy i'm afraid.

    Good luck!

    Hi Hex,

Where can I see the list of jobs at risk? Is Software Engineer also at high risk?

@MZ_ It's always a tough list to come across, I had posted it (or something similar) a few times in this forum before, however, a long time ago. I'll look around and see if I can find a new one.

FYI: Software Engineer was not on the high risk list last I looked (I'm a developer, so that was something  I was interested in :))

Just lodged my application last month and find that everyone here are really helpful!

Anyone get granted as restaurant manager recently?

@Kiwi Welcome. Please update your signature with your timeline (you can see examples from many people in this forum).
    https://www.pomsinoz.com/settings/signature/

From memory there was a restaurant manager granted just the other day, there have also been a few refusals (high risk occupation), you'll need to go back a few pages to confirm.

Don't forget that this forum only represents a hand full of applications and hence, I wouldn't recommend you rely on this information only.

    Good luck!

    Hi guys,

    I updated my signature recently.

Please have a look at my signatures and do let me know i idea that when will get response from immi department?

@restaurant.manager The standard advised turn-around time is ~28 days, however, as you'll know from this forum - that can fluctuate massively.

From hearing back from Immi within 1 day to many months.

Your occupation is a high risk and unfortunately, that comes with some red tape that typically causes the department to take longer, hence, the lower grant and success rate of Chef's and restaurant managers. Your only option is to do what you've been doing - hang in there and hope for the best. Good luck!

You don't need any private health insurance anymore.

@Hari_999 This post really isn't helpful as you're missing some crucial information on this area.

    @Kiwi This topic has been discussed at length in earlier posts (you'd have to go back a while to find them) however, to touch briefly on it;

    - Legally you don't need to have private medical once you've lodged for PR, however;

    1. Should something happen to your application and it gets refused / rejected, you would not be under the legal requirements of being in the country (you legally need to have private medical on a 457). I'm not sure on the repercussions on this, personally, I wouldn't risk it.

    2. Without a private medical and depending on your income and a few other criteria, you may be liable for medicare "loading" which after time could add up to lots of money and bite you later on. There's lots of information on this online, a quick Google gave me this (disclaimer, I've not read through it completely): https://www.privatehealth.gov.au/health_insurance/surcharges_incentives/lifetime_health_cover.htm

I wouldn't take this decision lightly and do some in-depth research on same before making the call (including speaking with my MA / asking for the facts and also go through older posts here).

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for your answer

but Many people saying each component others saying overall score.

    very Confusing

@Micgeo My understanding on this is that you need a 4.5 in each module.

My wife had a similar requirement (needed 8's in academic test - she's a teacher), and she did it a few times because 8's were needed in EACH section (not overall, which she had a few times).

Hex, he might be looking for paying the money instead of submitting the English language score as it is for his spouse application. If this is the case he is definitely waiting for the link where he can pay it off.

Not sure though he might be looking for submitting the original ielts score once he has been told.

@KazBaker Ahh yeah, if that's the case then it makes perfect sense. Thanks for that

but they haven’t request yet the IELTS for depend applicant Is it normal?

    nomination and visa applied 17-10-19

    nomination approved 20-2-2020

    occupation  restaurant manager

    186 trt

@Micgeo Firstly, congrats on the silver email.

Secondly, the IELTS would be apart of the visa application, meaning they will pick that up when going through the visa documents, not the nomination.

If you know the IELTS is missing, why not upload it / get it complete beforehand? This would avoid the request for more information and delaying the application unnecessarily?

  14. 45 minutes ago, jbeeaar said:

Yes he will, it's due on the 12th.. we have a letter from the University specifying his course completion date of the 10th of March and will upload that and results once they're released on the 10th when we first submit the application and then upload the completion certificate in the following days..

@jbeeaar With that said it means that the bridging visa won't be able to be looked at until at soonest the 12th (when the certificate is uploaded).

Sounds like you going to need to change travel plans - rather safe than sorry.

    - I'd also suggest you follow @MaggieMay24 's advise and seek professional advise if still concerned.

    Hi Indianinoz,

Have just included my signature with timeline.

I applied for citizenship in April last year and it is quite disappointing that I haven't received anything back from them yet.

@GUS Unfortunately, this is something we'll all need to deal with and the only thing for sure, is that the timelines seem to be "consistently inconsistent".

However, you are still within the timelines and all you can do is wait I'm afraid.

It’s been four Weeks my nomination approved and visa status further assessment, not any extra documents ask, anyone cases is like mine?

lets hope lots of good news today

@samiee There are lots of cases like yours and in fact many more people that have waited much longer. If you bored and wanted to see this (related to just this forum), you could go through old pages to read much longer cases.

Unfortunately, no one can tell you how long the exact process can take. I've seen (on this forum alone) a case from nomination approval take 1 day and another take longer than 2 years.
This is all case / application / CO related and there is no rule for exact timelines i'm afraid.

Best advise I can give is for you to hang in there, wait and keep the positive thinking going.

    Hi All,

Is there a way to get to know that the 186DE nomination is approved? My MA is very lazy and provides information in 3-4 days.

    Thanks

@NickB89 The nomination is a tough one as this is (unless specified from the company), not visible to the applicant.

The only persons that would have access to seeing the status of this is the MA and the company (it contains sensitive company and financial information).

    Your options are;

    1. Rely on the MA and call them for an update from time to time.
    2. (Unlikely) Ask your company to allow you access to their Immi account to view and monitor the nomination.

    Good luck!

That is fair enough. The Department of Home Affairs is constantly shifting their processing priorities so cases can take longer to process without it meaning anything sinister. Averages are only averages and people fall outside of those estimates.

@Marcus De Witt Ryall Might I suggest, rather than having you add your signature to each email, to simply create a signature and update that. This way, it'll be attached to each post?

    Hey guys just wondering,

I think most of the people here check the status on the Immi account online several times per day.

When you get the visa granted, do they send an email first and then change the status?

Will they send an email to me or to my MA?

@Vinicius The status change triggers an email.

The problem lots of people face is that, when you use an MA, that email goes to them and in many cases, it takes the MA sometime to notice and update you on same.
    - I told mine about my approval the next day (meaning they had the email for 24+ hours and only knew about it because of me).

If you not using an MA, different story (as the email should come directly to you).

I always monitored my account (tried keeping it to twice a day (morning and evening) as I didn't like relying on MA's.

  20. 1 hour ago, samiee said:

Hi my nomination approved on 22 jan and since that visa status is further assessment , can anybody please tell me how many days or weeks or months most of the visa finalise after nomination approved?

@samiee Unfortunately, no one would be able to confirm this as it's completely dependent on the visa application and no 2 are the same.

    - It should be quick (as they've now likely looked at it), however, I would expect the worst and hope for the best (15 more months vs 1 month).

There's a good analogy I like using for questions like this: It's like trying to answer "how long is a piece of string". There's just to much unknown i'm afraid.

All the best, hopefully It's a quick turn-around.

    Hello everyone,

I have just become eligible to apply for my citizenship.

Does anyone know what evidence documents are required to prove a name change after marriage, on the citizenship application?

I am planning to take my husbands name on my Aussie passport, but not sure if I need to change it on my origin country's passport first.

    Thank you.

@insiya1008 For me, I was told we could just use the marriage certificate (as it contains the maiden and new last name(s)).

  22. 32 minutes ago, Nora said:

Yes within your actual application. Click on your name (View details) or even click on the button next to it that says "Update details". If you click on view details of your application, you will see (the current application), and you will see

    Menu

    Application homeMessagesUpdate detailsBridging visa information

    Actions

    Attach documents

    Update details

You can provide updated information to the department using the links below.
    Change of address details
    Change of email address details
    Change of passport details

@Nora Yep - I got that (where to actually update it), I'm more asking on which application. The citizenship or finalized PR or both.

  23. 2 minutes ago, Nora said:

Login to your immi account, and on the left you will see the tab the says "Update details", click on it and then it will ask you what do you want to update i.e. name, address, passport.

    😁

@Nora I wish it was that easy - I don't have such an option. Unless you're referring to within an actual application (I have a bunch of applications in my account)?

    Am I missing something?
