  1. The vetassess test for first class welder is in 2 parts

-1st part you have your qualifications assessed which you will need an apprenticeship and NVQ3, also lots work references, payslips etc.

-2nd part is the technical interview (you need to pass stage 1 first) so if you don’t have the relevant qualifications

So just doing a 6 month welding course will not be enough for you to pass the first part, never mind the second.

  2. My husband the main applicant and points are:-

    Age -25

    English -10

    Employment -15

    Qualifications -10

We went for the state sponsored 190 visa which gives you an extra 5 points, as we would’ve been waiting a while to be invited for the 189 on 60 points.

    Good luck!

  3. This is our timeline so far and only have 60 points, so if you go for a state sponsored visa don’t let it put you off, we only had to wait 7 days from EOI to invite to apply!

  4. Hi,

No we got our approval of nomination from NSW today and also invitation to apply for the actual visa now,

I was a bit confused to begin with too as I’m sure NSW has an additional step compared to other states if I’m correct!

So now we will submit the visa application, with all docs etc when we get it ready as I said it’s a bit quicker than we thought so still got a few bits to sort out first but hopefully lodge the application before end of June.

  5. So today we received our state nomination and invite to apply in only 4 days!

Things are moving so quickly and we’re not prepared  ? eeek!

Thanks for the reply, no I understand the fees for the visa itself, I just thought you had to have some kind of settlement fees... and show them your assets etc
Maybe I have read it wrong somewhere along the line emoji85.png

We’re unsure which visa yet as my husband needs to sit the pte once he’s done that and we know where we stand with points then we can move forward with the application!

I have already had a quote from pet air for my pooch, so I know where I stand with that..

I’m just trying to get all the info we need at the min

Our agent hasn’t asked us for any proof of assets etc, but I think every state has its own requirements as I’m sure our agent said Victoria ask for proof of funds and also ask about friends and family ties to the state. Don’t think NSW do but we need to provide an in depth CV.

Good luck with the PTE, my husband is dyslexic and was really worrying about doing the IELTS test as his spelling is terrible! He passed first time with 1 mark off all 8s, we got the band 7 so that’s all we needed although the extra points for band 8 would’ve came in handy but we’re just so glad that’s over, that was a real worry as it was the deciding factor whether we would qualify for a visa so he felt under a lot of pressure to say the least ?

Hi , as were looking towards either the 189 or state sponsorship with nsw for the 190
Does anyone know the funds required for the 190?
I have googled but can’t seem to find any information regarding the funds for NSW
    Thanks emoji4.png

Hi, not sure what you mean by funds? Do you mean the cost of the visa?

There is no specific request to have a certain amount of money in the bank so to speak.

Although we are a family of 5 and cost for our visa including agent fees and all other costs including skills assessment, police and medicals is approx £9000. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, you then have shipping fees, £4000 to take ours dogs, rentals, cars etc etc

So you will require a good bit of savings to actually get you over there and set up.

Good luck! We’re putting our EOI for 190 NSW very soon

Just received our invitation through skills select this morning for NSW 190 sponsorship! It's been just under 8 weeks since I applied for sponsorship!

Now to lodge application and wait again! ?

Great news! Hopefully won’t be too long a wait

I know of quite a few more from Blighty over the last three or four months who have tried applying for 190 sponsorship, only to be turned down.

Does seem like they're tightening things up a bit.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I’ve noticed a few recently being turned down from Victoria too, is this the case from people you know or were they applying to different states, we’re about to put our EOI in for NSW.

Good luck @WizardofOz2018 and fingers crossed all goes well ??

  12. Thanks for all your replies, @kevsan your thread was really useful.

So @Fisher1 sorry wasn’t sure, did you end up getting a container or 2 movecubes??

I’ll give my sofa a quick measure!

I think we’d probably need a container, just remembered we have some large garden furniture and an American fridge freezer that we’d probably like to bring too oops ?!

  13. Hi,

Has anyone used movecube? Do most people use a container if they plan to ship furniture or would a movecube suffice?

Trying to figure out if we could fit everything in a large movecube?

Anyones experiences on this would be helpful!

We have a 4 bedroom house but won’t be taking any furniture from the bedrooms so would really just be a suite, dining room table and chairs and white goods, and of course boxes of household and personal items, honestly even thinking about it all is giving me a serious headache ?
