Thanks Jon the Hat. Who to ask though? My agent won’t do it! Thanks TimeforHome. (I like your name btw!) I’ll have a look for the number! -

I had no idea there was a helpline! What’s the number? So sorry you’re in the dark. It’s hard waiting. I have a very unwell nephew in australia and we desperately want to get out there to help my brother and his wife. According to my agent, immigration are likely to just say that there’s nothing stopping me (as the Aussie) from going with our son (also a dual national) but that my husband would have to wait. I really struggle with the lack of transparency but I’m sure immigration have their reasons for it. Onwards and upwards I guess! Take care. X -

I wish there was some kind of bridging visa for us. If we’d applied onshore, that would have been accessible as an option. The wait continues...- 3,663 replies

Thanks for that - I guess it’s worth just holding on. I’m so frustrated at the dramatic increase in processing time. When we lodged it was 4 - 6 months and now 21 - 26 months. Hard to take in! -

Hi there, do you know if you’ve used an agent, if you can access your Immi account? My agent has been so unhelpful and I’d like to see what status my case is at this point (ie received, assessed etc). Many thanks in advance. -

Hi xmascreek, unfortunately not. We are still waiting. Can you describe your case in a little more detail? Did you use an agent? Many thanks and congratulations on getting yours! -

Hi Floyd18, we are in virtually identical positions. I have 1 child with dual nationality too. All lodged on 18/4/18. I cannot imagine what has changed from the recent post saying someone was granted theirs in 23 days to us now waiting nearly 2 years potentially. Fingers crossed!- 3,663 replies

Yes it’s pretty frustrating I agree. Did you have a fully front loaded uploaded application? If so, you won’t hear from a case officer until a decision is made. In terms of the 12 month tourist visa, I’ve actually been wondering if there are any visas whereby my husband can work? Does anyone know if this is possible? Nadine1, you can go to Aus and then if your 309/100 is ready to be processed, apparently they will see you are in Aus and will ask you to leave for 3 business days (eg a short hop over to New Zealand) and then they’ll grant the visa whilst you’re away. You have to be offshore for it to be granted in other words. No need to reapply for an onshore visa. X- 3,663 replies

Thanks Noodlejaffa- I suspect you’re absolutely right. It just seems ludicrous that the processing has increased from half a year to almost two years in such a short space of time, and no one knows where “in the queue” they are! I’m truly hoping they stick to the original time frame when we lodged! Ahhhhhh!- 3,663 replies

Hi everyone, I’m also in the same situation. I’m the Aussie, my husband is a Brit. We met in 2005, married 8 years ago, bought houses, shared banking and have a child who is 6. We applied on 18/4/18, and it was all fully uploaded (medical, acro etc). We have heard nothing which is ok, except that the processing time has since increased even further to 21 - 26 months. I’m freaking out. When we applied it was 6-9 months. How is anyone supposed to plan anything at all?! Has anyone been assigned a case officer at all? For all of you who used an agent, has anyone been informed of the increased time frame and/or had any info about this from them? I’m irritated that mine hasn’t said anything especially as the agents are relatively well funded by us! Good luck everyone! I have my fingers crossed for you all.- 3,663 replies

Hi ATE, we were advised by our agent that processing is currently very fast for U.K. couples with ‘easy’ cases because the processing is - apparently - being done in London...subcontracted out so to speak. She said we may have the visa by the summer but obviously this is subject to so many things, as Snifter has pointed out. However, because she’s said this, I am sort of hoping it may actually be quite quick. We need the visa as quickly as possible for personal reasons and went via this route rather than the skilled visa, which was also an option for us, but would have taken longer even though it was far cheaper. Anyway, my agent has emailed me last week saying because everything was uploaded at the start that we won’t even know anything until the decision is made. However, we didn’t know that until last week so it’s all new to me! All the very, very best. X -
I appreciate the advice snifter. It’s for personal reasons that I’m itching to get there. Also, when you see a post that says someone else’s only took 23 days...one can’t help but compare and hope! Thanks you anyway and your advice makes total sense. X

Any news yet Jon the Hat? The waiting is so hard!!

Hi ATE, we submitted 309/100 on April 18th and haven’t heard anything yet. It was all front loaded (medical, police etc all done and uploaded) and we used an agent. We have been married 8 years, I’m an Aussie, husband is from U.K., our son is dual national. The agent said that because it’s all front loaded, we won’t hear anything until it’s granted. Also, the visa numbers apparently go from July to July every year so this time of year it’s slowing down...hopemits not too slow! I hate the wait! Hope yours is quick and simple! -
Thanks Jon the Hat! What’s the NPC? Police check? I’m hoping for the same grant letter with the 100! Fingers crossed! Have you also been told that processing times from the U.K. are quite quick at the moment?
-
Hi everyone, I’ve been so excited to see how quickly some U.K. applications for 309/100 have been lately. We lodged my husband’s visa on April 18th and it was a full and complete application form via an agent. We have done the medical and police clearance and all documents etc have been uploaded. We have a son and have been married 8 years so hopefully all will be well. My question is that our agent said we won’t hear anything at all from a case officer as we have done everything. Is this the case? I thought we may still be informed when a case officer is allocated? The waiting is by far the worst part!! Please send me your success stories so I can live in hope and vicariously through all you lovely folks! Thanks!
-
Congratulations Oliver 27! ??We lodged my husband’s visa about 3 weeks ago - can’t wait! How long before a case officer was allocated for you? We have lodged a complete application, have been married for 8 years, kids etc...I hope ours is as quick! Enjoy Aus!! ?

Thanks Nemesis! Much appreciated! If you, or anyone, has any advice re which option is better for employment, (ie 189 granted from the UK or partner visa lodged onshore with BV) i’d be grateful to hear your thoughts. Thanks again!
-
Hi everyone, Thanks firstly for taking the time to read this post. I’m totally confused! My British husband is a UK trained secondary science teacher. We fit the criteria for either a 189 visa or a partner visa (we’ve been married 7 years, have kids etc). The 189 is much cheaper so we’re hoping to do it that way. I am Australian. We are hoping to emigrate back in one of two ways...either... 1) Lodge a 189 visa here in the UK and wait 2) Head to Australia on a visitor visa and lodge the 189 there. Does anyone know if this is possible? I can’t get my head around all the jargon! I think we can do it onshore if we lodge a partner visa and then my husband would have to wait for work rights until his visitor visa ran out. Can the same be done with the 189? Also, if anyone has any advice on which way is easier/better for work, I’d be grateful to hear from you. Would it be easier to get to Australia with the 189 done and dusted and start the job hunt from the UK. Alternatively, is it easier once you get to Australia and have a bridging visa? I doubt any employer would look/talk to someone with a visitor visa, but is it good to start chatting to people onshore? Many many thanks for any advice you can offer!
