  1. Argh! What an emotional rollercoaster this is! fingers crossed they dont take our job off their occupation list now!
  2. looks like its just dropped to 80! w better get our 190 application in! whoop!
  3. Thanks Thats what we were hoping, fingers crossed they drop the points soon, in the meantime we'll start applying for jobs -- too many changes going on to sit and wait :)
  4. Hi, We were also hoping that SA would drop the points threshold back down to 80 or 85 with the new allocation this month but it has stayed at 90. Does anyone think they will drop the high points threshold any time soon? is it worth us waiting or should we try and get employer sponsored and try to go on the new 482 (which will open the currently working in SA pathway 489/190)- to be fair I think we are going to apply for jobs - it can only help our state sponsorship if we have a job offer Thanks for any input/advice/experience :)
  5. Thanks both for your quick replies, I will start scanning everything and put some statements together :)
  6. Hi, We are going to apply for a state sponsored visa next month and I am preparing as much of the paperwork as I can now so we can put it through as soon as my partner sponsored. We have even completed forms 80 and 1221, I want the application to be complete to hopefully enable a quicker processing time so we can move to Oz sooner rather than later :) I'm looking at the information we need to prove our de facto relationship ... we have been together for 15 years, lived together for 12 years and have two children together aged 2 years and 3months who will also be included on the visa application. I keep reading that if there are compelling and compassionate circumstances for the grant of the visa, for example, there is a child of the relationship then proof of the de facto relationship is not required. So my question is ... should we still collate and submit proof of our relationship? or will the two children definitely cover this aspect? Anyone had experience here? Thanks in advance
  7. So a year ago another member sent us their ielts study books ... and now we have got the points we need we are passing on the love. 3 books, will post anywhere in the UK for free :)
  8. Ah Thanks, I think because of the wonderful process we will try straight for the 190 in June, save us doing and paying for it twice if we are successful. We've decided we want to move over pretty quickly and I just have visions of the visa being granted next Christmas which would be a fun time to move! I wish we were onshore already, it's annoying when you've decided to do something like this but the process is so long ... feeling a bit stuck! Guess it all helps make oz somewhere we want to be [emoji5] Good luck to you guys too
  9. Hi Liam, thanks for replying I wasn't going to claim for points we don't have yet, I wondered if we made a good enough application explaining how we would have the points in June anyway if they could offer us state nomination for the 190 visa now but with a lower points needed... as I believe it is in the state nomination offer / acceptance letter that the points required are stated? I have found on the SA immigration site that if you are refused state nomination then you can reapply straight away, no cooling off period like Victoria. And from what I'm reading South Australia seem quite strict with their rules so I think we either need to wait till June to apply for 190 sponsorship or go for the 489 now. Unless anyone knows any different on here?
  10. Hi, We are looking into emigrating to Oz, pref SA, my partners skill is on the secondary skilled list so we would need the higher points of 80 to qualify for the 190. His skills assessment gave him 7 years experience which would go up to 8 years in June 2018 giving us an extra 5 points that we need. I've noticed some states can be flexible with some details as long as you show commitment and tick all the other boxes. Is it worth us applying for state nomination now? would SA be flexible with points? or would they refuse us? and if they did, is their a waiting period for South Australia before you can reapply for state nomination? I am concerned that if we wait until June then their is the chance they will drop his skill off the lists altogether ... eep! We would rather be on the 190 than the 489 as we have 2 young children and pets we want to bring so the added security of PR and ability to buy a house appeals. plus if I'm honest, is like this to be our last British winter for a while Thanks for reading and any input J
  11. What a time to decide to move to Oz! We must all be crazy! haha Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  12. Hi, yeah that's why I'm giving it the 12 weeks to find a sponsor whilst the skills assessment is processed. Cardiac tech jobs are often advertised with 457 sponsorship available so, I'm hoping they might go that bit further if we push and with my partners experience & Qualifications ... plus the 457 is a bit of a gray area right now. You never know, these contacts might just pull through for us after all [emoji6] ACT will consider applications on closed occupations if you have a job offer etc. SA wont sponsor for the 190 if you are applying from overseas, only the 489 so that ones a no for us and we're not sure about Tas. With all these changes, PR just seems like the thing to aim for, so we dont get shipped back ? Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  13. Good luck with the move, have just PM'd you, Thanks again [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  14. Hi, Thanks for the replies, relieved we dont need to pay for another skills assessment. Stormy, we dont have a sponsor yet, but we have been talking about emigrating for a few years and my fella is a well qualified cardiac technician with over 10 years experience and he has a few contacts so we'll see if they come through for us now we have decided to push forward with the move. Im a little skeptical ... hence the interest in the 190, which seems like a simpler and faster visa to go for. any thoughts would be gratefully received ... I'm thinking if we dont find a sponsoring employer in the 12 weeks the skills assessment takes then we should concentrate on the 190 instead Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  15. Hi, congrats on being in the final stages, we are just about to book the IELTS so if you still have them, they would be really handy. We are in Manchester if you could post them? I would be happy to send you the postage costs. Alternatively we will be in Armagh for a few days from the 26th but we are visiting family and will be limited travel wise. What a lovely kind offer Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  16. Hi, me and my partner are trying to move our little family to Oz ... preferably permanently and we have family in Melbourne so are looking that way. The only way we can land in Melbourne is via the 186(DE) visa and this is the box I checked on the skills assessment when I submitted it to Vetassess. However I have just been reading how ACT (Canberra) might possibly sponsor and that it would be a faster route and still reasonably close to Melbourne so now I'm looking at the 190 Visa a bit more closely. So my question is ... Would the Skills Assessment thats currently processing be valid for both? or only the 186 as it asked which visa we were applying for ... surely the skills assessment is the same? I have searched the tinterweb but am finding nothing so if anyone can shed any light it would be great, failing that I shall email Vetasses directly. Thanks for reading Sent from my SM-G930F using PomsinOz mobile app
  17. Thanks snifter, so sorry you had troubles. we are keen to move to aus as soon as we can ... now we've decided its what we want to do, we feel a bit in limbo in the UK. Interesting about the medical, I know they request the medical at some point after youve submitted the visa request, is that quite near to the end of the process? I'm thinking it might be best to carefully time it so hopefully we get the best of both. Vetassess have a processing time of 12 weeks for the work assessment and then the 186 has a processing time of upto 9months at the minute plus my partner has to give 12 weeks notice here once the visa has been granted. Ideally I would rather not be pregnant when they request the medical... but I think you are right, we'll see how it pans out and roll with it. Any idea if we did have a Newborn? Would we be able to add it to our visa once it was being processed or would we have to start another application just for the baby? Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  18. Thanks Raul, I will be doing that, was just wondering if anyone had experienced this kind of situation ... I'm guessing it could be pretty stressful Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  19. Hi, Me and my fella are just starting to gather what we need to apply for the 186 visa, how would a pregnancy / newborn affect the process
