  1. Hi I'm not sure this if these are the details you are after but the following link indicates the jobs on the long/medium and short term lists that were revised today. Fi http://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/hindi/en/article/2017/06/30/new-457-visa-list-effective-1st-july-2017-announced?cx_navSource=related-side-cx#cxrecs_s
  2. I hope it works out for you - such a stressful process and we are waiting at the moment until we can do the transition route at the end of August with the possibility the application will be thrown out in March when my husbands job moves to the short term skills list - as borders and immigration can't tell me what will happen to applicants in that position. Good luck!
  3. That's very frustrating - will you definitely have to do them again? We are a family of 5 so medicals will be very pricey for us all - really don't want to have to pay and go through the process twice!
  4. OK thanks - appreciate you taking the time to respond. I guess we just get on and apply in August and hope for the best!
  5. Is this just for now or do you know if it will apply after March next year also. Similar to others we are hoping to apply under the TRT route but can't apply until 31st August 2017 and are wondering what will happen assuming our visa is not approved by March 2018 (as at this point my husband's job that we are using for the application will be on the short term skills list). Thanks for any help. Fi
  6. Ah ok thanks - we found something to say they had to be within 6 months of immigration interview. But perhaps we were looking in the wrong place! Didn't realise there was an interview anyway!
  7. I'm struggling to see the answer to this question (though sure it will have been posted). We are looking to apply for the 186 visa (transition route) in August 2017 (when my husband completes 2 years on his 457 visa). We need UK and Oz police checks as I understand it but think they're only valid for 6 months. I've heard you should apply with your applications 'decision ready' but am unclear whether we should be applying of our checks now (they'll be valid at time of application but if we are granted the visa don't suppose they will be valid then). Can anyone advise. I'm also trying to decide whether to get medicals done now, in advance of applying. We are a family of 5 and there may be some issues on the medical that need further info (unsure at this stage). Maybe it's not actually true that applying decision ready helps? Many thanks (if this isn't in the right place please delete - I've also posted separately about this)

  9. I'm afraid I can't help much but I'm interested in case you hear anything from anyone. We got our 457 before you (in august 2015) so are able to apply for PR at the end of August 2017 this year. My husband's occupation is on the short term list now and I'm wondering what will happen if the visa isn't granted by March 2018 (immigration think the cut off is 1st March not 31st March 2018 though they didn't seem sure). We'd be lucky to get it through that quick and I'm wondering if it will then be refused during the application process. The person I spoke to at immigration thought it would be refused if it isn't granted by March 2018 even if we applied in August/Sept 2017. If that is the case then, it sounds anyone applying after March 2018 would definitely be unlucky if their occuaption is on the short term list. And this seems completely counter to the grandfathering rules :-( I hope someone can clarify this soon.
