  1. Well few with insight would give too much hope on any side of Australian politics, saying that very glad that ALP has replaced the former Barnett government, which was long over due its stay and apparently clueless as to direction, not unlike its Federal namesakes. I'd have thought overseas experience of far right populist movements would point out the destructive forces they behold. Okay to a degree to agitate from the sidelines, just don't allow them to get into a position of power. Their authoritarian stance usually witnesses an implosion from within. Hanson's party has witnessed as such in WA. We in WA have been incredibly poorly governed with lobby groups calling the shots and little apart from debt to show from the recent 'boom'. One thing the myth that the Lib's are better economic managers has clearly been proved a fallacy. One just hopes the new government can turn sentiment around and take this state in the direction it surely should be in a sustainable and inclusive way.
  2. A rather awful show highlighting excess and ostentatious behaviour in an overly positive light. The above example goes a way towards underlying some of the serious character flaws displayed all too overtly, by all too many during the recent so named 'boom'.
  3. The last thing Perth requires is another 'boom'. We are still attempting the get over from the 'hangover' of the previous one. What Perth needs, is to get away from boom/bust cycles to something more sustainable. Saying that we are a bit of a one trick pony though, with limited inspiration evident among our politicians and business elite into other avenues of endeavour. All rather sad when so many possibilities could be considered. The cost of living certainly needs to come down. Brisbane is welcome to higher house prices in my opinion. Perth could well do with a reality check and living within our reduced means.
  4. Yes by vested interests wanting to maintain the status quo. The reality being it is not about immigration as such but the incredible numbers allowed in, in order to maintain the housing frenzy. Immigration has and always will be a part of Australia. Just it shouldn't be the centre part of attempting economic prosperity replacement.
  5. Gosnells has come ahead in leaps and bounds over recent years. It has a progressive council which enhanced the area in the way of urban design but of course any locality, where large numbers of disadvantaged people are placed will encounter certain issues. Just another battler suburb in many respects with a lot doing the best they can. Does have plus points. Close to nature. View of mountains. A good train link to the city. A multi cultural population that may well have softened some of the 'hard edges' found a few decades back.
  6. Sad news indeed. Far too young. A very successful satirist. A rare breed indeed. The gap left behind will be very hard, if near impossible to fill.
  7. A very pleasant meet anyways. It will be the last time at the present premises as refurbishment will soon take place and the pub will exist no longer. Hopefully another venue will be found as a replacement. I suggested Leederville. Anyway thanx to Kate and John of Money Corp.
  8. Save me. Probably one of the more interesting and informed posters on the forum, but there are surely limits to hero worship? My sources inform me this character no longer exists on these forums. Someone masquerading perhaps in the shoes of past greats?
