  1. I would have thought if they ask for the last ten years - it means the last ten years - if they were wanting from date of application they would have asked for that. Have you been asked for this information as I note your lodgement date is Feb 16.
  2. Applied/acknowledgement for subclass 143 on 01 April 2016 - waiting patiently
  3. I thought that a dependent child would have to be accompanied by their parents on initial entry
  4. I have just read a post that you wrote which I have just viewed on my iPad (although can't see it on my laptop), where you quote "I'm a migrant and I would never have regarded it as my right to bring my parents to Australia with me" I am a bit confused - I am on this forum looking for helpful information on the "NEW PIO PARENTS VISA thread" - and from what you are writing on here, it comes across as you don't agree with parents joining their children in Australia, surprising as this thread is about parent migrating!! I am a parent and all three of my children are settled and citizens of Australia now. My husband and I applied for a CPV 143 after careful consideration and only after our children keep giving us the forms to compete with our birthday/christmas presents - it is our children's wishes that we join them, we are still both of working age and have approximately 15 years working life yet until we reach our pensionable age, which is not necessarily retirement age. If we are lucky enough to get a Visa, we both will be joining the ranks of the workers and paying into the Australian tax system. Yes, we may not pay as much as our children will pay in over their life time, but we certainly will not be "free loading" .
  5. Try UniBaggage, I have used them in the past (not to Australia), but found them inexpensive and reliable, you can get a quote online.
  6. Why would you think those with dependant children would have priority and these children potentially be tax positive once they get to Australia. Previous posts have suggested (and I may be wrong here), that these dependants are generally mid 20’s and are dependant on their family - are they miraculously going to no longer be reliant on their families once they get a Visa - I think not, but that is my personal opinion.
  7. I admire your confidence in the DIBP, clearly the adult of 27 must have been already been assessed on the 173 visa - need I say more
  8. Firstly I am surprised you are included on your parents 173 visa - I did not think this visa took 4+ years to obtain (assuming your parents applied when you were 23) and since you are 27 that would assume they must of applied at least 4 years ago!! Obviously as you are not sure whether you should work or not would suggest you are fit and able to work and therefore not really dependent on your parents - this in my opinion kind of makes a mockery of the visa process - no wonder Australia want to reduce immigration
  9. Hi maybe you should speak to an immigration officer about whether you are dependent on your parents and what the meaning of dependent means regarding immigration. Clearly if you are workin, or indeed able to work, I can’t understand how you would be dependent on them. However, I am not an immigration expert and can only offer my opinion. I suggest you speak to a professional regarding your future dependent status.
  10. Great job - depressing to see how long it’s now taking to get a visa - when we applied it stated 18-24 months !!
  11. Ramot in your post you noted that there could be wives and several children who might now need to be tested. I think we need to understand what visa's are being applied for before we can make any assumptions on what may or may not happen. I understood this thread I was responding to was for parent migration to be with their children (now I am not sure if I am responding to the correct thread), and therefore it will be the "parents" and potentially some siblings who this may affect. Until we have confirmation of what may happen in the future, we can only surmise and I surmised that it could be another hoop my husband and myself may have to jump through in order to be with our children in Australia.
  12. My children had to take the English test for the skills migration, they sat the test in their home country and I am pretty sure all skilled migration needs to undertake this, regardless of which country you come from. So test centres are already in place as this is not a new concept, just another hoop we may have to jump through if we want to be with our children !!
  13. General question - Having applied for the CPV 143, when I visit Australia now do I just get the normal holiday visa or do I have to advise someone/department that I have a CVP143 lodged.
  14. I have used Halo Finance and they are very competitive for exchange rates and do not charge commission
  15. Do all individuals on the 143 application form have to complete Form 80, or just the main applicant?
  16. Thanks your responses, much appreciated - will not do anything with application and leave as is
  17. Not sure what either the primary or secondary criteria is (could not find this on the website) - the only reason we are thinking of changing is that my husband thinks he only want to work part-time whereas I would work full-time. We pass the family test (2 of our children have full citizenship, and the third has permanent residency. If someone could provide the link for the primary and secondary criteria that would be useful. Many thanks in advance
  18. Hi Currently my husband and I are in the 143 visa process - just now my husband is registered as the main applicant and I am on the form as a dependant - is it possible that we can change this so that I am the main applicant and my husband as the dependant
