  1. I know - it really is depressing. Surely things must improve soon.
  2. This time last year they were processing 6 Jan 14 - so just 6 months movement in a year. I do so hope that things start to pick up soon.
  3. Our acknowledgement letter was four pages long giving us a reference number, confirming details of the application and various other info on the processing. We received ours a month after we lodged our application although I see that some received theirs in a shorter time and others longer, but I think you should certainly have had one after over 10 months. Zee.
  4. Everything seems to be at a standstill at the moment, processing dates having only moved on 1 day in the last 17. Hopefully once the May/June 2014 applications are all processed we will be able to see a bit of a move on and get a better idea of how long it will take. But who knows? Going by the original advice when we applied (i.e. 12-24 months) we were hoping that we would have been well on the way by now – but unfortunately not. Let's just hope things improve soon.
  5. I think it varies. Ours was acknowledged about a month after it was received, but I see that some have taken a lot longer. I think sending by Courier is preferable because you will at least have a signature from IMMI. We sent ours by recorded post and although we tracked it to being received by the Perth post office it said "awaiting collection" for the whole month we waited! Zee
  6. What about an 864 Contributory Aged Parent visa. I’m led to believe that they are being processed a lot quicker at the moment. I must admit we have been thinking that we should have gone down that route now that the waiting time for 143 is so long. The trouble is we are very cautious and didn't want to sell up and move out to Australia just in case things went wrong and we weren't granted a visa and had to then come back and pick up the threads again. It is a bit of a minefield.
  7. Christmas is certainly something to look forward to. The boys both want to see some snow - we may have to travel to find some, but hopefully not too far.
  8. Hello there - our daughter is in Moffat Beach, next to Caloundra. We are hoping to go within a 30 minute drive from her - we are looking at houses in Kiels Mountain, Buderim, Mons etc etc. With the delay in visas being granted we had planned another trip out this winter, but instead are flying our daughter and grandsons over here for Christmas, which will be lovely. The way things are going we may yet get another trip out before we finally get the visas through. We will definitely rent for a while and make sure we pick the right house to buy. Lets hope things start to move again soon. Zee
  9. Is anyone headed to the Sunshine Coast. We're hoping to join our daughter and grandsons there. We had hoped to be well on the way to getting the visas granted by now - but looks like it is going to be a very long wait. Patience was never my strongest virtue! Surely we'll be on our way before yet another year passes. It is terrible wishing your life away, but I wish to time would go faster.
  10. I think we have just got to sit tight and wait and hope that things pick up a bit. But it certainly looks like to will be longer than 2 years before we get our visas. Zee
  11. If you go to this link it gives you the calculations. http://guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/9/4/3/60. I've asked the question before as to whether this amount is before tax but haven't yet managed to find the answer to that one. I also wonder how strict they are with the amounts and also don't know if they take into account our income. Zee
  12. Just be aware of the financial services compensation - both in UK and Aus banks. UK is currently £75,000 per person. I know that our bank, Lloyds, offer a temporary high balance cover for "eligible" deposits such as house sales for a six month period. Other than that spread it around.
  13. It certainly isn't good news, however when we applied it was around 1.5 AUD to £. We would far rather it be higher, but hopefully it won't sink as low as 1.5 again and will recover over the next few months. Fingers crossed.
  14. It will be so nice to see some movement again and people getting their long awaited good news. Things have gone very quiet and I feel so much for you who are nearly there. I'm hoping we are over half way through now - but who knows?
  15. Hello there elnak. We will no doubt be checking each other's progress. Our CPV lodged just after yours. Looks like we are in for the long haul, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
  16. Can anyone help? Is the AOS calculation for income for the sponsor done on gross income or after tax? Also is child benefit received included in the calculation. We are certainly better off than our sponsor. Although we don’t think there will be a problem, does our guaranteed income have any influence. Thanks, Zee.
  17. Thanks for all your advice. Just feeling frustrated and needing to do something constructive.
  18. We applied for a Contributory Parent Visa 143 in March 2015 and like everyone else are waiting – rather impatiently. Although all the instructions say to wait until you are told before arranging your medicals I see quite a few do this beforehand. Can anyone tell me if there a time limit on the results of the medicals. We don’t want to have them and then find we need to re-do at a later stage. Many thanks for any advice.
