  1. My agency have just put my expression of interest in, and on the forms it had my Ielts results on it. So I don't think you can put a eoi in with out the results anyway.
  2. Hi there does anyone know how long it takes for Vetassess skills assessment results to come through I done the practical 2 weeks ago it says on the site 14 days to get results. Its past that now. Any ideas. Cheers.
  3. Hi there, we told mine before started applying so they could get used to it, to ad honest I think they thought it was just a phase we was going through. But when told them we had started, think it sunk in with them. They still aren't to happy with it, don't think any amount of time is good for the people your leaving.
  4. Anyone done there plumbing skills assesment recently, doing mine tomorrow. What do I take with me. I know my passport and voucher is to be taken but it mentions tools on the paper work I have. Do you really need to take them. Cheers
  5. Wicked well done mate, bet you can't wait, it's gonna be a long 4 months now lol. Where you starting off at.
  6. Hi there I'm a plumber my self, I had to send off 10 years work experience and get that signed off. Now doing my practical this month, I think every one has to do it to show that you can actually know your stuff. As your husband will know a lot of people have qualifications but don't know how to actually work lol
  7. Go, go, go, go. Wish I had done it at 23, life isn't a dress rehearsal it's there for the taking your only young still and will be excellent experience for you. Who knows it may be the best decision you ever made. I'm 32 now and going through the process of a 189 visa. Wish would have done it when was younger, but wouldn't be in the situation I'm now in. Own a house, married and as well as you a good job. I wouldn't worry about your job here if your good at it you won't have a problem finding work should you ever come back. Take the bull by the horns save all you can and enjoy every min your out there. Good luck pal
  8. Waiting for a practical. They ring you up first to have a chat anyway. Suppose the longer it takes the more money there is to ad saved.
  9. Hi there I got a reply from them within two weeks, so hopefully yours won't take that long either. I'm just waiting to do my skills assesment now which is booked in for September.
  10. I think it means kind of being a mate, the wage out there is still good though for doing that. Yup we going there just for a better life had enough with this country now, especially in London. It is more laid back out there and so much more to do out side, we loved it, there is even public bar be cues there in the parks. You just take your own stuff have a bar be and clean up after.
  11. Done my apprenticeship on site. Started doing my own stuff domestically last year but gone back on site now as the money is pretty good in London at the moment. So same as you really domestic and commercial. The agency I'm going through organise it so I can transfer over to the white card, when there though you have to work for a year supervised to show you can do the work. What's your reasons for trying out there.
  12. Well I done my gas last year so I could sign on to gas safe this year but that all changed after going aus in December. As we know the qualifications here are no good out there now, but least I have it so if things wasn't to work I can still sign on to gas safe if was to come back, I went to a seminar the other week and apparently if working on building sites out there you get every second Monday off. Are you more domestic or commercial.
  13. We been looking at suburbs about 45 mins from brisbane. But we stayed in noosa while was there and loved it and there is quite a bit of work for maintenance company's there as people have holiday homes etc. We sort of just wanting to get the visa done then will just find some where after. Its only me and the wife no kids. We got a house here but will be renting it out for a couple years so will always give us back up if things wasn't to work out out there. What about you
  14. No haven't done that think that's going to be the next step though, we looking to move about next year too. Once visa is granted you have 10 months to use it. Where in brisbane are you looking at because that's our choice as well.
  15. We hoping to take about 30k with us. Get your first aid course done with st John's ambulance my course cost 150. Was just a first aid at work course. But you need to do one that covers bites and stings too.
  16. Hi there I'm a plumber currently going through the visa application. We are going through a agent and the agent fee is about 3000 (immigration to oz) is the company. I have done the ielts test and got the first aid cert. The hardest thing to do so far was getting as much work history evidence as you could, luckily I had 15 years of wage slips, p45's, end of year tax return statements. Boxed it all up and sent it to the agent. Then had to get companies I have worked for to do me a short letter confirming I worked for them, my roles, employment dates and wage. Also done a stat dec which is a letter written by yourself telling about your work history qualifications etc and getting it signed by a soilsitor. Now awaiting next stage. Its taking time but gonna be worth the wait.
  17. For mine I have had to provide wage slips, references from company's I have worked for and also a stat dec of when I have been self employed. Its another long and drawn out process.
  18. Someone told me that ex pats pay more income tax than non ex pats .is this true?
  19. They only take what your lowest score is anyway. So you could get a 9 9 9 7, they take the 7. Silly I know.

    Where to start?

The points is just a basic guide. The more points you get basically you jump the queue to get the visa eg if someone has 65 points and someone else comes in with 70 they will get ahead of them because gap more points. As for the first aid cert I done mine today, I think every trade has to have one because of the nature of our jobs and the risks. Also the qualifications we have here are not reconsided in oz so that's what the skills assesment is for, you gain a white card which is like the cscs card over here.

    Where to start?

I'm a plumber and going through the same visa. There are a number of ways of boosting your points. Eg the ielts test, you need 6 years plus work evidence the more years you have the better they want wage slips, references, tax returns, you need to have a certificate in first aid, do your skills test to show you can do your trade. There is much more to it than we first thought but it's getting there slowly.
  22. Thanks all really helpful
  23. Yes I have had the exact same thoughts about people renting it out and there being problems while over there. I just wanted to sell it and cut all ties, keep the money in the bank and see how we are doing after a year. But the wife says to rent it out so the law is laid lol. I would even just keep it and pay the morgage while out there depends on what wages we will be getting though.
  24. Thanks. Its for getting a horse when out there, do you know of any places where a stables would be near
