  1. We are off to Adelaide. There is no difference between the forms really! They held the same info to a degree! I just hope they are happy and grant it soon. We want to go beginning of July so could really do with being able to get on and book everything!
  2. Hi, Im also a mental health nurse, lodged on 12th March and had case officer allocated. All requested stuff now submitted so here goes the waiting! Where ar you hoping to settle lisab?
  3. Congratulations! Exciting news! We submitted all our outstanding forms on Tuesday so as you had a quick turn around from submitting on request, I can only live in hope ours turns up soon!
  4. Fat load of help I am, I can't remember! I think the qualifying examinations etc might only be connected to bridging programmes etc. I can't imagine I filled in anything for this as I don't remember addressing it in my cv. Clinical/procedural, yes I just listed the skills and tasks for my role/ qualifications. I didn't list most of the inhouse training such as mandatory training as I figured it was irrelevant, but I did include any short courses that were adding to my skill set, but I didn't supply certificates for that. I think the guidelines they produce are for all eventualities so there will be local nurses for whom some of it applies, and then overseas nurses who will have different needs. I think thats the same for the internship/ observership. Newly qualified nurses have to do a transition to practice course over there so it might be that it relates to that? I don't remember it being complicated to do, and I hate doing those sorts of things so I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck! There are probably some old threads for AHPRA on here as we have all had panicky moments and periods of self doubt as the process is all quite daunting. There might be more info there, which will be of more use than me, who has wiped it from my mind obviously! I only submitted in October!
  5. The most important thing, before you go any further, is that you are degree qualified. The second thing is that you have to have a skills assessment for anmac if you want a pr visa and both parties require the same documents certified etc, so it would probably be cheaper to get duplicate copies at the same time! I found it confusing but I printed off the application form for overseas nurses and actually, once I had that, found it only difficult making sure I had everything to submit as there is no mileage in sending a half completed application as they dont do anything at all until they have it all. Other than that it was actually easy in the end. I think their website isn't as clear as it could be but the form guides you through and theres a checklist at the end too. Good luck!
  6. That might be for the actual visa aplication. My agent left out my work experience as I had 75 points with it. I was initially confused why she didn't add it in but I have heard of people having to hunt down references from companies that have gone bust etc maybe thats where it comes from? I have been through ANMAC and I only needed a statement of service covering how ever long they wanted, which HR did, the statement from my current manager in the format anmac want and a cv that I had signed to say that it was true and accurate. The only other stuff I sent was certified documents etc and stuff from the NMC. ANMAC have a checklist on their site I think which might be worth looking at. Good luck, hope you get the ielts points you want.
  7. You only need someone from your current role to do the ANMAC letter. There is no way around it though as the letter needs to include your skills based against the ANZSCO code you are asking to be assessed against. You need to do it exactly as they ask you to. They will also expect to see your work history but you just have to declare your CV to be true and accurate. You can chose to leave out your work experience when it comes to submitting your EOI if you don't want to claim points for it, but for anmac I think there isn't a choice. Is your current line manager or senior nurse not willing to do you one?
  8. Im a mental health nurse awaiting my visa for Adelaide. There are currently jobs being advertised at the hospital mentioned above for working in mental health with women and children. You could e-mail the contact on the jobs and ask them whether they would consider someone with your skills in that setting, then you would know what you options are. Either that or you could go back to childrens nursing and perhaps that will open doors, as once you are "in the system" you will have access to a lot more jobs than we get to see from the UK as they will be internal. What I do know from a visit to the MH facilities at Flinders is that they are crying out for experienced mental health nurses and not for newly qualifieds. I would think you may struggle to get a job without a few years experience as they informed me they have a glut of newly qualified nurses in SA that need to do their transition after qualifying but do not have enough experienced nurses to support them. You would still need to get you DIP from AHPRA for mental health. It seems a long way round and expensive just to possibly increase your job prospects when you have tons of experience in your field. I am expecting to go and have to start at the bottom of the pile. Its unlikely I will start with the kind of job I want and am qualified for. Thats the joys of relocating I suppose!

    Ielts

I would think not. I have done the exam but can't imagine that this would get good marks on writing. Some of it is just selecting the right box (eg listening) but the writing is looking for different things and writing in capitals the whole way through would not be acceptable in most academic situations so can't see it being a good thing here.
  10. Thanks, its so hard not to panic when its something you haven't done before and is way beyond your control! Its been made worse by two nurses on here submitting at the same times and getting a direct grant the day we got our case officer. Makes me paranoid I think! Maybe just need to stop panicking
  11. Hi we recently lodged our 189 and have done the medicals and police checks. We were anticipating being asked for form 80 as lots of people seem to be. Our case officer has indeed asked for these forms, but also wants form 1221 AND a CV both for my husband. I am the main applicant. The form and the cv all contain the same info that is on the form 80. This is what makes me nervous! Is it normal to ask for so much duplicate info, especially as my hubby isnt the main applicant? Apart from form 80 they seem happy with all my info. Obviously we will complete it all this week and upload it, but can anyone either put my mind to rest or confirm my underlying worry?! Thanks!
  12. Oh wow, now I'm in a high anxiety state!! Waiting to hear from my agent! Our medicals only uploaded last week so I am less hopeful, but still, two of you in the same day......:chatterbox:
  13. Congratulations but super jealous!! We really want to go at the start of July but cant book anything until the visa turns up! Lets hope they are being speedy with the rest of us! Did you submit the form 80 out of interest?
  14. No, not heard anything yet. Had the medicals and police checks all done, and wearily working through form 80 "just in case"!
  15. Hi, we are taking our bikes to Oz with us, as they are expensive and able to get in the container. They have been used rurally so they are not the cleanest bikes in the world! Does anyone know what the most acceptable form of cleaning for shipping is for bikes? Is a standard clean up enough or do bikes have to be steam cleaned (and if so will this damage them?!) thanks!

    Suicide?

As a mental health professional, I can tell you that there is no straight answer to this question, we are all different and the reasons behind suicide are sometimes the most rational, other times (in the vast majority of cases) the complete opposite. However, no matter what the tiggers are or how rational something seems, there is always help available. No problem is so insurmountable or a mood so low that with support things cannot improve. No one should be alone or feel alone if they experience such thoughts. If things that would normally make you feel happy no longer make you feel happy then the likelihood is that depression is to blame. This is a serious mental illness if left untreated and believe me, suicide, no matter who you have around you is devastating in its consequences. I can also assure you that complete strangers, who deal with the aftermath, are always affected too. The world is never better off without you no matter how much your brain thinks it. Depression has a handy knack at twisting the truth until you cannot see whats real any more. Whether you feel this way, someone you know, or this post is just about curiosity, please be assured people can help no matter when these thoughts occur.
  17. It was "the official cambridge guide to IELTS". Its quite pricey but you can sell it back after. Alternatively, the local library may well have a copy for loan
  18. Yes I also think it will be fine. I had a dipHE in mental health nursing and a BSc nurse practitioner. I passed so sure you will be fine as it's related to the field of nursing. Good luck!
  19. I hadn't heard earlier but just had an email from agent advising I got the invite too!
  20. I got a book too, possibly the same one. It was really confusing at first but I ploughed through and I reckon it really helped. I thought the actual test was way easier than the book! I got 9 for everything bar writing, which was 8.5. I think the book got me those scores because most of it is about doing it in the way that gets the scores rather than common sense necessarily! Had I not prepared I think the test would have confused me.
  21. I don't know what the answer is, but if you are really unhappy then you need to think of all the pros and cons and see if any of the things that would make you happy can be sought in the UK. If they can't then maybe you have your answer. Do your kids want to go back to Oz? We are emigrating to Oz this summer. Leaving family behind is the only thing that worries us, but when we looked at it realistically we don't live local to them so don't spend time with them as much. For us we decided the trade off in the life long guilt of taking kids away from grandparents was worth it for all the positive things we get in return. If there isn't much of a pull to the UK it's worth looking at heading back. Would you go back to Perth or try elsewhere if you did go? Best of luck, it's really hard to know how you will feel about things sometimes until you try!
  22. I would wait. Once it is granted you do get a year. I was automatically given a year and had to confirm I agreed to it, others have had to request an extension on the standard 3 months. Basically, everything I sent to ANMAC I sent to AHPRA. Get double of everything you do for ANMAC, including the notarised documents and then go through the AHPRA application with a fine tooth comb to make sure you have everything! Be aware, the certificate of good standing and the fit to work parts have a time frame on them (NMC COGS is only valid for 3 months and it costs £34). I would apply for them maybe just before you intend to submit to AHPRA. If they have everything they need then the turn around will be relatively swift. Maybe apply in late autumn? Of course the thing that is most important is that you have a degree! If you don't then you won't get registered. I only say this as there are a lot of us diploma nurses out there (me included, but luckily topped up to degree!) who are no longer eligible. Good luck, it seems daunting but the application forms are the most stressful part. Once they were submitted I found it much less stressful!
  23. They are currently recruiting in Melbourne and Western Oz, but not sure if they are sponsoring. Check the rcnbulletin. If you already have AHPRA then you would likely make it through assessment for independent skilled migration (189) which might be easier than trying sponsorship. I'm off to Adelaide and aware they are not offering sponsorship at present.
  24. unless you are degree trained they will not grant you registration etc as a nurse. No matter how experienced you are, the rules are now very strict, no degree no reg. I also don't think your partner could come on a permanent visa with you unless you can provide all the info for defacto relationship. Much easier if you hav been together and lived together for quite some time. This would be different if you were married, but at 22 perhaps not yet high on your list! If you can add him to your visa then you might be able to get points for him, but he would have to undergo a skills assessment too. The best thing you could do right now is approach a couple of MARA registered migration agents for a free skills assessment. They will point you in the right direction. You don't have to sign up to them to get some advice so you could take the info and plan your next steps. Don't spent a penny until you are sure you can go forward, otherwise you will just waste money. The alternative is to work towards getting your degree and then plan to come at a later time.
  25. HR is fine. You will require all the same documentation to apply to AHPRA as well so get two certified copies of everything! I've worked for the same NHS trust for over 10 years and all HR would provide was a letter stating my start date, my current role and that I was still employed. It was about two lines! My manager then had to write a reference which covered it all in depth and related it to my ANZSCO code. I've recently done both and had then both come back positive so feel free to ask me any questions and if I can answer them I will!
