  2. Hi Paul, Still waiting for Brisbane City Council ceremony and my timeline is: Applied - March 2021 Test - June 2021 Approval - July 2021 You may be waiting a while… sorry!
  3. Anyone know the process for travelling overseas if still waiting for ceremony date? Wanting to go back to UK for Christmas if borders remain open that is! I’m in Brisbane and it’s been around 4 months since interview & test approval so not expecting ceremony to be until next year so would be back for it.
  4. I’m not sure if this is normal but my birth certificate doesn’t have details of my parents on it. Just wondering as for the birth name, date and gender on the documents table it says about details of parents? Don’t want to turn up and it not be accepted but have never had a problem with it? Thanks!
  5. I applied in March 2021 and received interview and test date in June
  6. Is this from when it was granted or when it was activated? Eg my visa was granted in July 2016 but didn’t arrive in Aus until 2017
  7. Hi, I'm just applying for my citizenship now. Bit confused about the overseas police check - when it says granted does it mean activated? E.g my visa was granted in July 2016 but I didn't arrive in Australia until Jan 2017. Do you think I need a police check for that time? Thanks

  10. Hi all, My partner and I have been in QLD for 3 years now. We went back to the UK (both British citizens) nearly 3 weeks ago to get married and are now back in Oz. I want to change my name with everything in Oz but not my passport just yet (honeymoon booked in September in maiden name as only just got new passport), does anyone know if this will be possible? Worried thateverything will be in my married name apart from my passport and visa? Is this okay? Thanks in advance!

  12. Hi Captain C, Code: 241411 Points: 70 Occupation: Secondary school teacher EOI submitted: 18/4/16
  13. Hi there, Sorry to start another thread about the 189 visa but I searched and couldn't find my question answered anywhere, also if I waited any longer I would have combusted in self doubt. My question. I have applied and paid for my visa and uploaded all the relevant documents and now I am just waiting on an assessment. I have claimed 65 points (Age 30, IELTS 20, Education 15) and was invited to apply with this score, my concern is that as a Teacher currently employed (1.5 years) I have not yet worked enough years to claim work experience points. My skills are assessed etc, but will my visa be refused because I do not have the overseas work experience? Is this a mandatory requirement as I was invited to apply without claiming OWE points in the EOI. I have never claimed for OWE points, I am just worried that it is a mandatory requirement for acceptance. Any my help would be hugely appreciated, I hope this all makes sense. Thanks Becky
  14. Had my invitation today thanks Captain, very impressed!
  15. Hi Captain, Really interested with your predictions, so here goes...! 1. 241411 2. Secondary School Teacher 3. 65 points 4. 23/11/15
  16. This might be a long shot but I was wondering if anyone from the UK was completing or had completed a Clinical Psychology Masters in Australia? If you have what university and how did you find the experience? Alternatively if anyone knows anyone studying at the moment I'm just looking for some information to help me decide what uni and course to go for. At the moment looking at Melbourne University. Thanks
  17. Thanks Jacaranda, we are both aware of the job prospects and neither are bothered if we don't teach out there! Shame that the Aussies can't even get jobs out there! Yes that's what we'd thought and whether it was worth going
  18. We are both secondary school teachers, looking to go on one skills visa with the other one added as a dependent as we gather that's the cheapest way and we would both get permanent residency. We're also aware that to be added as a dependent in a defacto relationship we must prove we have been in a committed relationship for 12 months.
  19. My boyfriend and I are looking to move to Australia in 2017/2018 and have just come across the London Job expo https://workingin-events.com/events/working-international-expo-london-10-11-october-2015/ we were just wondering if anyone had been to one before or were looking to go to this one? Just wondered how beneficial it may be?
  20. okay I see where you're both coming from now. So if I were added to his application as a de facto partner would that grant me permanent residency as well?
  21. I might be missing a trick here but I didn't think there was any other way of being added onto a skills visa other than being a de facto? It doesn't say anything other than that on the government website....
  22. Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone would be able to answer my question? My boyfriend is applying for skilled visa and we are looking at whether I can be added as a defacto rather than apply for my own skilled visa to cut cost. As a defacto would that entitle me to permanent residency as well?
