  1. Massive thanks to you all for your responses. It really does help. I am going to scan in all my documents ASAP. I do however need to get one document certified (it specifies in the document checklist) and look at getting my meds booked and arranging police checks. I live in Cyprus at the minute so will need to arrange one from here too. Not sure how straightforward that will be . Thanks again everyone.
  2. Hi there, Thanks for your quick response. I have read several posts covering this topic but I just wanted to be absolutely certain after reading the quoted statement in my previous post on the website. I don't want anything to cause any delays. If it says 'unless otherwise stated all docs must be certified' even if it says 'scanned colour copies' surely that means it still must be certified? However I do see you have just received your grant very recently. Congratulations. And I also see that lots of people have only uploaded colour scans without certification first. I'll give it a go. Fingers crossed and thanks again for your reply. Good luck with the big move.
  3. Hi there, Awesome news today - received positive skills assessment. YAY! I have been reading this forum for months and note that uploaded documents for the visa application did not need to be certified. However the Border.gov website now says: 'Unless asked to do otherwise, you should provide 'certified copies' of original documents, rather than the original documents' Of course I've done a fair bit of research and the Australian website states that : ''Certified copies' have been authorised (or stamped) as being true copies of originals, by a person or agency recognised by the law of the country in which you live.' So who can I get to do this? Could a nurse do it? A teacher? or does it need to be a doctor / principal / notary public? Many thanks for all the help, support and guidance so far POI.
  4. Hi Captain C, I have 60 points (dependent on positive skills assessment), I'm a secondary teacher. I can't apply yet as awaiting AITSL response but do you think it will be worth trying to boost my points with IELTS or will I get an invite with 60 points at some point? Many thanks.
  5. Yay fab news. I got my confirmation email this morning. A month after posting mind but at least I haven't got to do it all again. Just another long wait ahead now. Thanks again for all your help/advice. X
  6. Thank you Benj and Chatterbox. I have sent an email this morning. I hope they acknowledge it this week. i can't face another long wait before I've even really got started. I do appreciate your advice. Love this forum, thank you.
  7. Thanks Chatterbox, Yeah I did read it takes 10 weeks but I haven't received confirmation of receipt which means I don't have a reference number yet. So I sent it off 3 weeks ago and still heard nothing. Thanks for the link though thats really helpful for if and when I do receive confirmation of receipt. x
  8. Hi Hjd, I'm sorry I have only just saw your message. I just happened across it by chance when searching for some information. We have sent off our skills assessment on 3rd October and have yet to have a response. I'm a little worried as everyone seems to get theirs within three weeks. However mine was sent from a BFPO address and had to go via the UK first so perhaps that has held it up. Great news for you though receiving a positive assessment. i have my IELTS booked for next month so I have been practising for that so fingers crossed I will hear something soon. Have you had an invite yet? I have my fingers crossed for you. x
  9. Hiya, I sent off my AITSL application over two weeks ago and was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it takes for them to confirm receipt of the application. Many thanks.
  10. What a refreshing post. Massive thanks to all the people who have taken the time to post positive stories when there are quite a lot of negative and disheartening stories out there. I have just put in my assessment of skills and obviously still have a bit of a wait before I can even submit an EOI but I'm so excited and really keen to get our move to OZ in gear so once again, thank you to you all.
  11. Hi Hannah, Massive thanks for getting back to me. Initially I was looking at the Gold Coast but was worried about job prospects. My mister lived in Sydney years ago too, I'm not overly concerned about being near the city centre so we are not set on a locale just yet. Thanks for your advice though regarding suburbs. I will have a look. I've contacted relief teaching agencies so far but none specific to states, so I will definitely do that after I have lodged my skills assessment. There is so much to think about isn't there? I want to register as a teacher within states but obviously can't until the assessment comes back. Its a huge waiting game but thankfully all of my transcripts and references came back pretty quickly so I will have my assessment sent off by the end of the week. Its so exciting. I hope you hear back soon from your EOI. You must let me know how you get on. I know each case is different but from what I've read a lot of teachers have been invited pretty quickly. Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it. Best of luck. Kirsty
  12. I'd love to find out how you are getting on hjd. The hubby and I are both teachers although he is looking to go back into engineering. I'm lodging the application. I have an appointment to have my documents certified this week and hopefully will have them sent to AITSL by the Friday. My specialism is Design Technology but the Mister and I are still uncertain where to move to. We want the best opportunity for at least one of us to get a job so he has been advised NSW with an Engineering background. Of course I'm worried about property prices in NSW and not entirely certain I want to settle there. Can anyone advise? Reading up about Pom teachers in Oz can be quite demotivating I have found so finding positive stories on here is great. Good luck hjd with your application.:jiggy:
  13. Sammy, this is really interesting. I am currently collating my documents for skills assessment and super excited! I am a Design Tech Teacher specialism in Graphics and Resistant Materials. My husband got a job in Cyprus as an Engineering teacher so I have been supplying whilst out here but. Its just nice to see some positive feedback regarding job situation. We are still not certain on where to move to as the OH wants to go back into Engineering and that front seems all doom and gloom. With that in mind, you say there are few female DT teachers...is that specifically in WA?
