  1. Yay! Best news ever today. I've been checking my email every morning in anticipation for about a week after seeing everyone receiving their grants. Got ours today - Yay! Bit devastated that I had to go to work today. Definitely wanted to crack open the champagne...at 7am in the morning. Huge thanks to everyone on this forum for their help, guidance, advice and predictions (captain c). Good luck to everyone still waiting.
  2. Congratulations to those receiving their visa's. Looks like lots of quick turn arounds. Fingers crossed for the rest of us :daydreaming:
  3. I adore this forum and without it my visa journey so far would not have been as straightforward. I can spend hours reading posts and threads about life in Australia and have personally been given invaluable advice from other forum members and if I ever get to Oz I look forward to meeting up with members and sharing what will hopefully be a happy and successful experience. So for Poms in Oz I am eternally grateful.
  4. 1) It says I have to respond within 28 days, does this mean a confirmation of receipt or contacting them once all my documents are up? - Not certain on this one! 2) For the health checks, can I do these through my doctor or do I have to go somewhere specific? (I'm in London) You must go onto Immi.gov website as there are specific practitioners that are registered to complete this. It cannot be your usual doctor. Have you generated a HAP ID in your onlineimmi account? You need to do this and complete a health questionnaire before booking an appointment - this may also help you find your nearest qualified practitioner. 3) Do I email form 80 to them? I can't see where to upload it on my documents page. If you go onto the 'upload' section on your account there is a drop down menu for other supporting documents...its also in 'personal particulars for character assessment' drop down. Hope that helps.
  5. It will take the ten weeks to come back from AITSL. I submitted mine from Cyprus, it had to go via the UK first so instead of 2 weeks to get to OZ it took a whole month but it still took 10 weeks for them to contact me via email to say the result is ready and another 2 weeks to receive the result in the post. You will not be able to claim points for superior English unless you have taken a IELTS or equivalent. If you can get enough points without taking the test great. Good luck.
  6. I put in EOI on 6th Jan, got invite 22nd Jan and lodged the same day. PCC's sent off on 19th Jan and medicals booked for 27th Jan. I had to get PCC's for living here in Cyprus which came back yesterday and my husbands UK one only came back on the 8th Feb. I was lucky living in Cyprus that medicals only cost us 300 euro between us so that was a bonus and it was uploaded onto immi the next day. A case officer contacted me on the 3rd feb requesting PCC's and a form 80 for myself and hubby. Mine was already uploaded and hubby's just needed to be put onto immi and it was a little worrying with the unpredictability of the post out here regards waiting for PCC's. Now the waiting begins I suppose. Fingers crossed for a quick grant for us all. Looking at Oct and Nov lodgement posts is quite worrying as some of those guys look like they have been waiting ages still without a grant.
  7. It should be the right one as I downloaded it from the border.gov website mid January and I have double checked since to make sure there isn't one with '2016' at the bottom. Fingers crossed
  8. Oh, that's interesting...but yes frustrating. Thanks Captain. I do wonder if they've thoroughly looked at my file if that's the case.
  9. Hi all, Feel a bit like I'm spamming this forum...and a little bit obsessed with it so apologies in advance. So I lodged my visa application on 22nd January and uploaded all documentation including form 80 (for myself only) apart from meds and PCC's. Meds have since been uploaded and I am just awaiting the delivery of police checks. I had an email this morning from GSM (far earlier than expected) requesting our PCC's and a form 80 for both my hubby and I. I have already completed a form 80 - is this just an oversight by GSM? Many thanks in advance.
  10. Incredibly helpful thank you. I will continue with my research until the grant comes through. The favourites folder is an awesome idea and I will definitely start making up CV packs soon, so thanks again.
  11. Vanduex, did you seek employment when you arrived? Or did you do it from the UK? We have our fingers crossed for a grant over the next 2 or 3 months and hope to fly over in August time. I am hoping to move to QLD and have applied for teacher registration (not paid yet). I've signed up with Smart and even at this early stage constantly searching and having look at jobs online. Any advice? I am a design and technology teacher. Many thanks.
  12. Hi, Super excited that we received our invite only two weeks after putting in an EOI. Thanks to Captain C and his ability to predict the future we have booked our medicals for next Wednesday and have organised our Police checks and awaiting their return. I have all documents scanned in and ready to load into the Visa application but I want to know: Should I wait until the police checks come back before lodging the application so that all documents are ready for when a CO is assigned? Or should I start the application, upload all documents and add in Police checks and Medicals as and when available. My concern is that I will lodge the application, upload all my docs and then a CO will be assigned when we don't have our PCC's and then our application will go to the back of the queue again. I understand that you can't really predict when the CO will be assigned and how the Visa application will go but advice is very much appreciated. Also I have filled in a form 80 for me as the primary applicant, should I fill one in for him indoors too? He was in the military 20 years ago. Last question: I currently work on supply and my most recent payslip states 25 hours worked in the month of November ( I haven't received December payslip yet as I'm paid in arrears) Should I upload it or will the fact that I'm not working regular hours go against me. I have not claimed this year on my skills assessment. Huge thanks to PIO for getting me this far already. :jiggy:
  13. Correct again Captain C... Got invited. Didn't receive email, just checked Skillselect. Thank you and well done :biglaugh:
  14. Hannah I'd love to know how you're getting on and what your next plans are. I see that you received a grant on Christmas eve...what an amazing christmas present. Congratulations. I'll bet you're super excited. I hope all is going well and to plan. xx
  15. Hi, I am in the process of applying for a Visa and have applied for a PCC for that reason, however will I be required to apply for an ICPC once in OZ (providing visa is granted of course) to enable me to work in schools? Many thanks.
  16. Pom Queen thank you for responding. Fingers crossed someone will know the answer.
  17. Captain, thank you for your response - that's a bit exciting.
  18. Captain, sorry to bother you again, is there a possibility I may get invited next month: secondary school teacher with 60 points. Just incase I need to bring forward my medicals? Many thanks
  19. Hiya, I have searched through this site and trawled the web for an answer to this so apologies if I'm seeming unprepared...I'm definitely not. So I've submitted EOI, booked meds, preparing PCC's and generally getting bit excited and then a thought occurred. I'm currently working as a supply teacher. I have worked as a full time teacher within the last 6 years and have claimed for 3 years for points on skills assessment recognised by AITSL. However the visa doc checklist requests a recent payslip. As I work on supply hours are not guaranteed and I don't always work 20 hrs per week. I have references and payslips from my years as a full time worker but my most recent employment (in the last 6 months) has been as a supply teacher. Will this affect my visa application? Many thanks in advance.
  20. Many thanks for your response. That seems to be the general consensus. I will wait. Thanks again.
  21. Thank you Captain. I think I will as at the minute, although eager to get out there we're not in a massive rush. Thanks again.
  22. Thanks ever so much for your reply. Yes they said my nominated occupation is not on the list for that state. I have read about the conditions of the 489. I think I will hold out for the 189. Thanks again.
  23. Hi I've applied for a 189 and 190 (QLD). QLD said I'm not eligible for 190 but I am eligible for the 489. I've never considered this option and have just done a little reading about it and searched this forum. I have enough points for the 189 but could be two more months before invited to apply. Should I just hang on for that to come through? Many thanks in advance
  24. Sorry for dull post but just had to share. After 4 months from the decision to embark on our PR visa journey, to getting references, transcripts, certification etc, today I received a positive skills assessment. Yay. EOI has been submitted. Now for the long wait for an invite. Bit of an anticlimax mind. Thought I'd be way more excited.
