  1. Just made the move to the gold coast and shipped over a full 20" container. So pleased we did as we want for nothing. Just a standard washing machine and dishwasher will set you back $1200+. We had to buy a bunk bed here and a king size mattress and we shopped everywhere for the cheapest half decent one we could find and still paid $600 for the mattress, and $500 for the bed. An £89 henry hoover over here is marked up at $500 in the shops. We have friends here too who only brought over a few things and they said they would have shipped over the lot if they had known It all really depends on what you have too

  4. Can you not just get the 189 skilled permanent residency?
  5. Can you not say that unless his attitude changes the whole thing is off? He needs to realise how hard this is going to be leaving his mum. I wish I could take my mum with me.

  9. Hi Eureka, we land in the gold coast on the 1st of august with a 5yo and a baby due at the beginning of September. We ideally need to be in a home by the end of august, does this sound doable?

  18. Yes, it was only 30mins away so we drove to collect it, had all the paperwork signed and dropped it off at the migration company. There is one piece of information they still need which is proving difficult and that is a self assessment tax form to prove I have paid into the system here. it takes hmrc 30-60mins to answer the phone and yesterday and today they said it would be faxed over but still nothing

  22. Hi, I'm not sure if the points system is the same for all jobs but I had to pass the ielts to gain 10 points to bring me up to the minimum. Where you have scored a 6 for listening I believe you won't have enough points....but I could be wrong
  23. Our friends found it really difficult to secure a property and in the end had to pay 6 months in advance which they now say was a good idea as it took the pressure off a bit trying to find a job
  24. There's mixed reviews on here regarding work I have found. Everybody has a different attitude towards work so I think it's difficult thing to comment on. As for tools my pal has told me to bring everything as tools are crap and double the price.
