  1. This is one thing I hadn't thought of. Thanks for the info! And I now won't throw out the immunisation books!!!!
  2. doctdavis, Thanks for the info on the list. Got the computer out and managed to input data this time.
  3. I tried to input on an iPad. Wonder if that is the issue!
  4. I tried to upload my details but it hasn't accepted them. I input and pressed submit. Do I need to do anything else or is there an administrator who finalises things?
  5. Pinkestlady, what is the tracker and where do I find it?
  6. Katie93 if you are young enough then I would go for the WHV. This will allow you to see if it is for you or not. I visited for a holiday whilst I lived in Japan many moons ago. Loved it then and as I am 44 this summer I persuaded my wife to uproot our family - the two of us and three kids. It is our final chance to do this and we are of the mind that if it doesn't work we can still come back here to sunny Scotland. It might be an expensive mistake but one we are willing to take as it is not only for us but also our kids' future. All the best with whatever decision you make.
  7. Congratulations to those of you who have been successful! Just had our meds done on Monday so know we still have a little to wait, but hopefully not too long!
  8. Seems like things are moving in the right direction for a few people. Good luck to all. Just had medicals yesterday and have uploaded every other document we need, I think!? Fingers crossed!
  9. Mine also took the stated timescales outlined by AITSL. Start to finish I think twelve weeks.
  10. Alan Collett thanks for pointing out my error and I apologise to anyone who may have been confused. In haste I put the extra information on gaining points at my point 1 instead of point 2. I seem to have ruffled a few feathers regarding my post which was meant merely as my opinion as to how my visa process has gone so far. If any agent is worth their weight in gold then they should not be worrying (or be I nsecure) about my post as personal recommendations should keep clients coming to them. Wrussell I am not a teacher of English but mathematics. I trust that some agents will be hoping that I now have difficulty with my application but c'est la vie!
  11. Completely agree with NeelD in that the process is a relatively easy one to follow and you don't need to spend an extra couple of grand! I am applying for a 189 visa as a teacher, which although is a completely different career the process I believe is the same. There is a lot of reading and thinking about when to do what but it is simple if you plan and take your time. Ask people on here as there are many people willing to share their experiences and give advice. As an order I would say to do the following: 1 skills assessment - get as many points as possible as this will help push you up the list £300 2 IELTS test £150 (check passports - two of my kids' passports had ran out, so I need to do an extra form for each child) 3 EOI 4 Apply for 189 when invited. Invites are twice a month on Fridays - beware of cost as this needs to be paid at this time £4000 5 arrange medicals for all parties named on the visa application £1000 6 wait! The prices are for me and my wife and three kids. We are currently at point 6! Hope this is of some help.
  12. Birch4, i sat sat the academic ielts in January at Glasgow Caledonian university and it was a well organised event. Hope wherever you are sitting will also be the same. I practised as much as I could on the writing section which is the section most people find hard. I used ieltspractice.com as they have a large range of tests and they provide hints and tips. YouTube is also good as some people have put their own personal experiences and teachers have also made pages outlining the main points to remember. I learned the way to answer the written questions and how to score highly. Hope per this helps and good luck!

    Medicals

College girl and Shelz, thanks for your replies. After looking more closely at my immi account and printing the medical forms on there I see now what the medicals entail for all. Medicals are booked for Easter Monday which will hopefully be the final piece of the jigsaw!!
  14. I recommend going on YouTube as there are a few video lessons that are useful. Especially regarding the writing part and what they are looking for. Learn the pattern to answer the question and work as fast as you can. The writing section is one hour but it goes very fast so a few preprepared good (long) sentences are recommended. Try to remember ones that would fit into a variety of situations. Remember the word count - there is a minimum you need to write but no maximum. I wrote on average ten words to a line so I counted them to roughly make sure I had written enough. My my writing test questions were on: 1. two tables comparing consumer thoughts and researchers thoughts as to how we can reduce, recycle and cut emissions - top five for both. Write a comparison report. 2. About banning mobiles phones in public places. For or against. Look at http://www.ieltspractice.com for practice papers and hints. There are a few apps you can get for iOS and android. Get them and practise. Hope this helps and good luck and I hope things go well for all.
  15. Pinkestlady and Youngfreewild, Thanks for that info. I had a suspicion that this was the case. I am up here in sunny Scotland which is part of the reason for wanting to move to Oz! I had read on the IMMI site that you had to wait for the CO to be assigned but I noticed many people going ahead. Which I shall now do! Five of us so OUCH! But needs must. I also lodged in Feb Pinkestlady so I will need to find your thread. Good luck to you both and hope things go smoothly!

    Medicals

I am waiting for my CO to be assigned and was wondering if anyone can advise me about medicals for kids? Is there an age limit for those who have to have a medical? I thought I had read before that children under eleven don't need a medical. Is this the case? or is it a case by case and depends on the visa you apply for? Any info would be great. Thanks.
  17. youngfreewild, I was told that I had to wait to have my CO assigned before I could book my medicals by the receptionist at the hospital in Scotland! Have you had a CO assigned? If not, how did you go about booking these? Probably a daft question or I was given the wrong info from the hospital but any info you could supply would be great. Cheers.
  18. Ozmaniac, When I called the hospital in Edinburgh to arrange medicals I was told I had to wait until my CO had been assigned and they gave me a reference number to use. But you seem to say that these can be done before the CO is assigned. Can you elaborate? Cheers.
  19. Selina, You don't need to use a solicitor. I asked a friend who is a doctor to certify my documents for my AITSL accreditation application and it was passed no problems. There is a list of occupations that are acceptable which includes many different professions. Even your HT can certify them for you and if he/she does it then it won't cost a thing.
