  1. Wow 9 months already? That's gone so quick! Have you been down to the south island yet? Be interesting to see what happens next week with the lists, I'm hoping queensland or nsw doesn't come back on ill be gutted! Not a peep yet with my visa, we need to book out medicals soon but didn't realise how pricey they were!
  2. I did the same applied online and sent paperwork through the post, like Laura said it's a lot of paperwork! Laura how are you getting on?
  3. Think it's best to consult a migration agent they'll be able to tell you more about whether you qualify! Yeah it's definitely got a lot harder to move to oz, I'm just grateful I can still get in! I don't work as a hairdresser currently so my time was running out! It's not as bad as it sounds, the worst part is the vetassess assessment and as long as you provide enough evidence and revise you'll be fine! It will take time though that's the downside!
  4. I can recommend go Matilda, I'm applying for a 186 visa and they have been great with me
  5. I was planning on a 489 for Queensland so did my vetassess and then it got taken off, I know the visa I'm going for the 186 you need one but not sure about other sponsorship visas. Have you done one already?
  6. They definitely are, check anzsco search it'll tell you where is sponsoring hairdressers, I'm with go Matilda who are brilliant, give them a try.
  7. Hiya, it's only the NT and Tasmania that are sponsoring hairdressers at the minute. We tried for the NT but they need proof that we have $50,000 which we don't! I contacted a few salons in Tasmania and one is sponsoring me for a 186 visa, I got extremely lucky with that. To get into tas on any visa I think you need a job offer. I think a 190 might be quite hard to get unless you have ties there, think some people were being granted a 489 instead of a 190. Have you contacted a migration agent?
  8. I got asked how to do the procedure, and also a bit about men's shaving I was honest and said I didn't do it but guessed! We're from Shropshire have a salon in tassie sponsoring me for permanent residency, application is in but it takes 6 months to grant! Never been to tas before so not sure what to expect! Have you been to Darwin before? I haven't but my partner has he said it's nice! We were there a couple of years ago for 2 years we did the east coast the middle and down south, loved it all! It's an amazing country! X
  9. Hi Eloise, ah sounds like you're well ahead with your application! Don't worry too much about the technical, my advice would be read through this thread and you can get an idea on what sort of questions are asked, also do a bit of research on Australian health and safety. Go through your folders and just refresh everything. Dont worry if you need a minute or two to think before answering a question either, they are patient. As long as you have looked over everything you'll be fine. You might get asked questions on how to do a chemical straightening etc I did and never done this before so it's worth having an understanding of everything even if you don't do it yourself! Whereabouts are you from? Have you been to Oz before?
  10. Ah fingers crossed for you. If I was you I'd email vetassess and see how long it will be till you get your cert. Have you done your ielts?
  11. It's about a 6 month wait for it to be granted now! We're planning to go after Christmas so it should be ok. Your 190 is about a 3 month wait I think. You going for the NT?
  12. I know, we started in January last year so it's almost taken 18 months just to get the application in!
  13. Hi edel! My cert took about 5/6 months to come through, I emailed them in the end! My application for the 186 has just gone in this morning Now the long wait starts! Which visa are you going for?
  14. Put hairdresser in the search bar on here, me and a few others have a long thread on hairdressing which might help you.
  15. Go matilda, they have been fab with me so far
  16. Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies. Our migration agents have requested this as he will be coming with me on the visa. Does it makes a difference if we are entering Australia on a 186 direct entry and that we aren't going from a 457 etc?
  17. Hi guys, My partner and I have just got the go ahead to start getting all of our documents together to submit for our 186 visa, and I am trying to write the defacto statement, but I can't help feeling a bit stupid writing it. I've written bits and then deleted it all as I'm just not sure of how much detail to go into. My partner and I actually met in Australia although we're both from the same town in the UK, and we have spent a large part of our relationship travelling Asutralia and New Zealand, we have been living together in the UK now for almost 12 months and have evidence of this and joint bank accounts etc. I'm just struggling to write about our time spent abroad, do they want to know where we've been together and what we've done, or would this not matter?! I don't want to put anything in there that is pointless but I want it to be as detailed as possible, can any share any tips? Thanks in advance. Vicki.
  18. How much you put in is down to you, but what you need to remember is that vetassess are an assessing body and they are asking you to prove you're capable of doing everything they ask, the more evidence you put in the better chance you'll have of passing.
  19. It was all about hair, explaining how to do things and certain techniques etc. I can't remember how much exactly that I paid but it was 2 payments which came to $2000-$2500
  20. It's only as the visa I'm applying for doesn't require it, if I was going for the 190 I would have to do it which I would've hated! Not good with tests! The first part is the paper part, so sent off all my qualifications, work references and proof of employment and all my evidence and then once I'd passed that it was a technical interview, they don't do practicals for hairdressing. It's a Skype interview that can last up to 2 hours, the longest part was waiting for the AQFIII to be sent, it took 5 months to get it! Yes you have to pay vetassess at each stage, I paid them direct as I wasn't using an agent to do that part, I guess you'd pay your agent but I'm not sure.
  21. That's ok then, seems a bit odd that they are taking a while to reply though! I don't need to do my ielts as my visa doesn't require it. The AQF is the certificate you'll receive if you pass both parts of the vetassess assessment, you'll need this before you submit your eoi. It doesn't sound like your agent is being too helpful, they should have explained this all to you!
  22. I don't think you're running late at all, just be prepared for vetassess to take a few months it took me almost 9 months from start to finish for vetassess.
  23. They are mara registered aren't they? I'd be a bit concerned that they are taking a while to reply, have you paid them much so far?
  24. There's a list on vetassess website that tells you what you need to put in, worth looking there in case it's changed since I did mine. Haven't done medicals and police checks as this comes in with your visa application, your agent will tell you when to do these I'd of thought. Not sure what you mean with the vetassess form, you have to post it off all together with every single document you're sending. What agency are you using?
