  1. Hi, Has anyone left Australia and lodged an early tax return? We are leaving about 8 months into the tax year and I've been told we could receive a rebate of around $4k each, I'm quite surprised by that figure and wonder if it aligns with what others have received.
  2. You've picked a cracking place to live. FYI - Pier 71 pizzas are excellent and weekend brunch at Creme is pretty good.
  3. Has anyone used OSS World Wide Movers to ship stuff to the UK from Melbourne? I had them round to do a quote yesterday and they were a $1k cheaper than Allied Pickford but I didn't find them to be very professional.
  4. Same for me, went to Leicester uni and stayed there. We used to live in Anstey, five minutes from brad gate park.
  5. That was terrible... plus, I can't even enjoy Leicester being champs as I'm an Ipswich Town fan.
  6. I want to go back to Leicester, there must be something wrong with me!
  7. I often wonder if these reasons are a bit weak and I'm terrified of moving back and regretting it. That said, I spent Sunday afternoon cooking a roast and, as nice as it was , I would have enjoyed it more if I'd been cooking for my family.
  8. My main reason for wanting to head home is boredom, there are only so many times I can go to the beach etc... Australia is great but I miss the little things like visiting family at the weekends, socialising with friends who we've known for years and talking soccer at work (I've tried my hardest but AFL just doesn't do it for me).
  9. I probably need to redecorate in the larger lounge room...
  10. But you don't really need a TV room, or a rumpus or even a laundry... We have two lounge rooms and the larger one never gets used, we also have two dining areas but only need both of these if we've fallen out! Fair point about the poundlands in my home town of Ipswich but not all uk towns are like that.
  11. That's only true if you have a predisposition to osteoarthritis. If you're a healthy weight and take a sensible approach to exercise (i.e. regular but not excessive) than there's is no evidence to support the idea that running alone can cause knee pain.
  12. I haven't noticed the quality being any better in general, supermarket or restaurant. The variety of SE Asian foods is amazing though.
  13. Good for them. I've tried running here but just don't enjoy it as much.
  14. I feel your pain. I used to run 80km+ every week in the UK, I struggle to hit 10km a week here. Make up the shortfall on the treadmill but it's not the same.
  15. I still haven't found any cheaper or better food...
  16. Not really changed, never really got sick in the UK or here in Melbourne. Biggest difference is that I now run on a treadmill instead of out on the streets which is very dull.
  17. What breed is the black and white one?
  18. 102 out of 321! No wonder we can't afford to buy a decent house in Altona.
  19. It's grammatically correct when related to the club or entity but not the team.
  20. It annoys me that the yanks get blamed for soccer. It's a shortened version of Association Football which originated in the UK.
  21. Using the third person singular instead of the plural to describe sports teams.. Liverpool has beat Tottenham instead of have for example. Pronouncing debut as dayboo. Both drive me crazy when watching sport on telly.
  22. Hi All, I'm a SCADA Systems Engineer with six years experience, although I've spent the last seven months working as a BA. I'd love a SCADA Related role, especially in the water industry. I live in Altona and I'm happy to commute within the Melbourne area. Any suggestions on where to look?
