  1. Visa Granted. Very Excited now. All getting real now.
  2. We are moving Jan 2015 with my OH Job. We have three children and are all very excited. We are looking to move to Sydney NSW, and are thinking of the North Shore.
  3. It seems to have gone quiet and the waiting in my house if finally making us all go crazy. Not much longer I hope, as we have a job to be moving to. Fingers crossed for the rest of us, still some waiting time left.
  4. Fantastic news. Congratulations. Fingers crossed for us we were the 29th and front loaded everything. The waiting is a killer. We're offshore so I wonder if that makes a difference. Congratulations again to everyone who has recieved their visa.
  5. Hi, I have just been trying to get my early years teaching status recognised and have also decided to get my early years degree recognised as well. The early years qualifications seem to be assessed by the Australian children's education & Care quality authority. They assess all your qualifications and paperwork and allow you then to move forward. I would advise having everything including transcripts from every year as they need everything to assess with. The link to the assessment page is http://www.acecqa.gov.au/Qualifications-assessment-form-for-individuals# Hope it helps. I have the teaching links as well if needed, but you'll need another body if needed for assessment for migration.
  6. Its really is hard. Telling our families was so difficult, one Side were ok, the other side were devastated, tears etc. We are moving grandchildren which never helps, but we honestly believe that as a family we need this and we deserve a chance to experience something different. Onwards and upwards xxx
  7. We're not committed to any area yet, as my OH would like to be closer to the CBD. So we are still to decide on area.
  8. We're dreading it, especially as one set of parents aren't in contact with us anymore since we announced our plans. It's all the different goodbyes, friends, family, colleagues. We have decided to avoid the airport we have done that once before (minus Kids) and it was awful, so would rather depart as a family and think happy thoughts.
  9. I am glad I found this as we are a family of 5 children aged, 9,6 and 4 and we were wondering if we would have an ok life on a combined salary of $180k before tax etc. We were initially going to come on a 457 visa, but we were advised (because of school fees) to get a 189 visa. I am sure we'll cut our cloth to suit but as many of you will know we currently spend a lot on our children's afterschool activities. They love a huge variety of things from rugby, swimming, ballet, rock climbing, horse riding etc. (we have a boys and 2 girls). Next on my list is to start researching areas to live and have heard great things about Castle hill from my friends already in oz.
  10. Thanks for the reply Sammy1. Not much I can do about the PGCE transcript as that is lost. The university have been great though writing letter referring to the UK teaching standards explaining that to pass and receive certificates from them and the department for education( QTS status and inducation) I was required to complete and pass 50% course time in teaching practices and complete modules on curriculum etc, all stuff that I had completed in my degree as well. I have had my qualification recognised (and have certificates) from both Scotland and England. I have all the documentation that I need except the transcipt for the PGCE but have the transcipts for the degree. I might just send the stuff off and see, if not perhaps time to revisit my 2nd choice career or go back to uni. I just always loved teaching and after years of researching education, i was really looking forward to working in a system that on paper I fully believe in.
  11. Be gentle with me as new to the forum, and the whole moving to Australia, as my husband got the job and is moving out with me and three kids. Its all happened so quick. I am a fully qualified early years teacher who has had a gap from teaching of nearly 8 years as I have stayed at home with my children. I am struggling to get my Aitsl accreditation after my university lost my PGCE transcripts and the Aitsl are not taking into account my three years working in early years. Not much I can do, so i'll not dwell. My atisl accreditation was not needed for visa as husband had enough points to apply for 189visa. Anyway I am now wondering if I'll be able to work at all in NSW. I have worked supply in UK this year and have really enjoyed it, so was wondering/planning on doing the same in Australia. For interest I have a early years degree and then a PGCE. Thanks
  12. Thanks, I feel a lot happier and a bit more prepared. I should be grateful we have relocation package that means we get help. Maybe there's something to be said about my husbands lay back approach.
  13. I thought I would join and say hello. My husband got offered a job in Sydney(a country and city we have never been to but wished to see, and looked at relocating to before) in April and we didn't really think twice about it. It is a chance of a lifetime for us and our three kids (pre visit, relocation package, repatriation if we didn't settle, pay rise which meant that I would be able to stay at home as I have done since our oldest was born) and could be as short as 2 years or longer. We were offered a 457 visa initially but after some talk to friends in Australia, and the fact that we were both on the skills list we decided to apply instead to a 189 visa. It just helped us with the extra costs of schooling, medicare, and more importantly if we loved it meant we could stay easily. Amazingly everything went well (Usual long time waiting for qualifications to be skilled assessed) and we have now lodged the visa (just waiting o Medical and Police checks) which will delay us a bit, but like I said this is how unprepared we have been. Now as you can imagine it's all systems go. I am in charge of everything on the homefront for a push for relocation in Jan (not a great time, but not much choice as hubby delayed start date as we wanted the 189 Visa instead). At points I am amazed by things I have managed such as getting the house in the UK ready to rent, looking and getting quotes for removal companies but then I seem lost with looking at the bank accounts, savings, etc ready to take to the accountant/financial advisor, looking for houses to rent in areas we like, thinking of schools etc (I am doing a lot online which is fantastic). I have started making a list that just seems to be getting longer with three things added to every one thing I tick off. I know we will get it done as have moved a couple of times as a family with much tighter timescales, but this is the furthest away. Now I have written it down I don't feel quite so unprepared. Another hard thing is I am not sure other peoples OH are the same by my Husband is so laid back about everything. Just telling me it will get done.....
  14. We lodged a couple of days ago. Excited and hoping that the kids returning to school makes the waiting less annoying. We front loaded everything except medical and police forms, so they could delay us, but fingers crossed, for us and everyone.
