  1. Hello,

I have noticed that the 887 has appeared on this list: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/skilled-visa-processing-priorities

Can someone paraphrase the "Skilled visa applications are processed in the following order of priority" section please?

Does this mean they assess each applicant to determine if they are a priority please?

If so I am working and living in a "designated regional area" (Adelaide). Does this mean I will get priority please?

    Thanks

  2. Many airlines scrapped older aircraft when COVID hit, they assumed there would be a long term downturn (like they had been in the past). However, demand rebounded quickly and there aren't as many aircraft. Big demand with little competition on many routes.

its pathetic really. And I know that they will want an updated police check as mine will be 2 years out of date.. but if I did another now and its 1,2 or 3 months old by the time they finally get around to it, they will still ask for a new anyway one so might as well wait for the request.

Im going to keep uploading new ones. The extra cost is outweighed by the increase in property value as when I am PR we can finally purchase a house.

  4. Hello,

Submitted my 887 PR application some time ago. My Australian and UK police checks are due to expire.

I am going to renew my Australian AFP check. However, I haven't left the country since I lodged my application. Do I need to renew my UK police check please?

I am aiming for a direct grant so i want to be prepared.

    Thanks

Covid is the explanation.  All processing of offshore visas stopped during Covid, except for priority occupations (mainly medical).

Im not convinced. They stopped a lot of onshore visa applications as well.

  6. Thanks for the post! I arrived in Australia in May 2019 and have been waiting on my PR application since June 2021. Not long after arriving I met my Australian partner and now have an Australian child on the way, both are impacted by the wait. My current visa is due to expire, I have recently got a good job with a good employer who understands so that's good! I am trying not to watch the pot boil but it's not usually not far from my mind. News like this is always welcome.

Because I've heard that only who has PR  get an IT job, and others survive on non professional jobs, that's the reason I am curious to know

I can confirm this is not the case. I arrived in Australia in early 2019 on a temporary / provisional visa. I secured a permanent job in IT immediately. I started a new job a few weeks ago, again a permanent position, that also required a high level of security clearance and I am soon to be on a bridging visa.

In both jobs team members were also on visas that aren't permanent.

UPDATE2: Yes, provisional visas are included in the Permanent Migration Program. The 489 isn't mentioned but "Relevant visa subclasses include" the 494 and 491.

Probably because the 489 has now finished and replaced with the 491.

So was the conclusion the quota was included on the 489 and not the 887>?

  9. Hello,

This is a quick post to thank Paul Hand from SunCoast Migration. I dealt with him recently with a few questions in relation to my 887 visa application. Paul was prompt, extremely helpful and clear. He addressed all my concerns with no drama at all.

If someone is looking for a migration agent, I can recommend him without hesitation.

    Have a great weekend!

Hi all, I see lots of really helpful advice on the admin aspects of visa applications but I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for dealing with the agony of the long wait for news on your submission. Now that the stress of pulling together our paperwork is done and all is submitting I’m finding it hard to distract myself from wondering when / what we’ll hear - it feels like we’re living in limbo without knowing if it will be a matter of months or years.

As context I’m an Aussie citizen and waiting on a 309 partner visa for UK other half so we can live closer to my family again. We submitted in May 2022 and opted to do the medical soon after which was cleared with no further action required in early June. We were told at the end of June by our agent that the case was open and the officer was looking at our travel history but there hasn’t been any news since.

I know it’s early days in our visa journey compared to many but any tips for those who have been waiting several months or longer would be much appreciated.

I totally understand your situation. I am in Australia and have been waiting for my 887 visa since June 2021, but nobody has even looked at my case. No contact at all.

It’s a bit hard to answer without seeing how you answered the various questions on the application. Drop me a line via my website and I’ll see if I can help.

I screen recorded the entire process - just incase.

Thanks very much - I will give you a call.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

UK where you start school at 4 or 5 and then all children are the same age in each year group.

I worked in the UK education sector, there are a lot of schools in the UK that don't do this, it's becoming more common.

In Uk she would be heading into year 3 in September! Such a huge difference to Year 1. I also can't believe she will be 12 and still at Primary school at this rate!

Remember that they start school later in Australia than they do in the UK.
